Could have been five stars. Would have been one if the manager didn't show up and talk to us. (racial incident from host) BONUS: Manager offered three free apps to the table. Which wasn't needed but certainly appreciated. Onto the review... The wait was thirty minutes we were informed. The host used a term to describe one or more members of our group unfavorably. The hostess corrected him and said the manager would see us as soon as he could. We got some well poured drinks from the bar to pass the time and soon after we were seated, none of us were complaining about that! We got our table in about 15 minutes. The female server (Bianca?) was great. A table of nine and rarely was anyone without fluids, this place was packed too! We got our meals nd everyone was happy. From burgers to brisket, ribs to steak, it was very good. Relatively quick too for how busy they were. Very fair price for quality and portion of food. Was impressed all around, we will be going back again.

I had the brisket sandwich, the Haystack I think they call it. Wow, it’s really good. The brisket was amazing, soft bread, crunchy hash brown pieces with mozzarella cheese. The great bartender, Nick, brought me warmed BBQ sauce for it. The french fries were even good! The environment is pubish, inviting with lots of locals. Highly recommend!

Good menu selection & food came out very quick although it seemed quite busy. Great prices & large drink portions. The only thing I didn't like was that my burger did not come with lettuce or tomatoes. Just with what exactly showed on the menu. However, it was still delicious.

I witnessed something tonight that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Although the food, servers, and drinks were great, one employee stood out in my mind. Speedway offers a bus shuttle to all UND home hockey games. This idea is genius. But on the way back to the restaurant, one of the Speedway employees (or owner) made it a point to try and dictate how the bus driver should run his bus, because his "friends" hadn't arrived yet. The bus was full of customers who spent money at this establishment and were eager to get back and enjoy the rest of the night, as was I. But do to the nature of the comments directed toward the bus driver, there was no way I was going to spend another dime and I was not alone in feeling that way. Unbelievable. We were the first people on the bus and had a great conversation with the bus driver. He was kind to everyone who were arriving to go back to the Speedway Restaurant. He even stated that he'd wait a couple of more minutes to see if more people were coming. That's when the employee/owner entered the bus. At that time we were waiting approximately 40 minutes and the bus was full. The bus company makes rounds to make sure they get everyone. It's not the bus company or the driver's fault that the employee/owner's friends weren't where they were supposed to be. Just my opinion, maybe not drink so much next time. UPDATE! The owner personally contacted me about what happened. I can honestly say that her professionalism and addressing the matter, stood out to me. I believe that what happened prior was an isolated incident and hopefully won't happen again. I have been there 3 times since and I have to say that this place won me back. Thank you for the excellent food and service. Keep up the good work.

Great food, great staff, great prices. Can get incredibly loud at times but it's still one of the best places to eat in Grand Forks.
