We desperately needed gas on Thanksgiving, which is obviously not an ideal situation. We called ahead to see if this Speedway was open, and confirmed that we were on the way and would be there in 10 minutes. Literally 10mins later we pulled up to a pump, and saw a guy step out of the office and lock the door. We figured he was coming out to fill our tank, but he just kept walking. He left! Even though we were sitting there at the pump, and had just called to book an appointment, more or less. Unbelievable. We tried calling again and again but there was no one inside, even though the lights were on. Either you’re open for business, and you keep your word when you tell customers you’ll be open when they arrive in 10 mins, or you’re closed, in which case just say that, or don’t even answer the phone. Wasting the 10 minute drive here meant that we really were in danger of running out of gas on the highway. The stupid thing was that we passed another place that looked open, and didn’t go there, because I had promised this guy at Speedway that we were on the way and I didn’t want to break my word to him by going somewhere else. That’ll teach me to try to do the moral thing.
