A home for the arts that fosters the creation, understanding and enjoyment of the arts
The Spitzer Art Center is located in a house at 486 W. Market Street in Harrisonburg. The house was donated to Central Shenandoah Arts by Mary Spitzer Etter, a local art enthusiast. For several years, members, volunteers and community supporters have given time and money to renovate the house. We currently have three galleries, a classroom and 7 artist studios. Central Shenandoah Arts has served as an affiliate of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area since 1958. We bring workshops and speakers from the Va Museum of Fine Arts to the area, as well as presenting workshops and classes taught by our members. We host monthly shows of artist's work, sponsoring events and critiques for the community.
