Story

With a logo of a fist holding shears above the words, "Beauty to the People," you already know Square Root Salon is no ordinary salon. The 2400+ square foot Arrojo salon lies within a renovated warehouse, just east of the Federal Courthouse, next to AmerAisa, and exemplifies the artistic flavorings of owners David Gatt and Jason Smith. With an emphasis on continued education, Square Root stays on the 'cutting/coloring edge' of modern hair trends, and frequently conducts classes for any hairdresser wishing to perfect the craft. A white umbrella chandelier and a massive painting patchwork wall are just two of the surprises in store.

It has been a while since I've been to square root, but it is still to this day, the best salon I've ever encountered. It was the salon that inspired me to get my own cosmetology license. Everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I trust very few people with my hair and Ayse at Square Root is one of them! She is incredible at mastering any hair colour.  LOVE this place.

I had a color consultation yesterday with Jenn Allen and left a lock of hair for a strand test that she said would take "no more than 15 minutes", after which she'd call and let me know what my options were.  That was at 4 PM.  By 6 PM when the salon closed I still hadn't received a call (calling me on her cell after she'd finished everything also wasn't an option I guess).  At 11 AM the next day I called and was told she'd "call me back".  No call.  At almost 2 PM I called again and was told she'd call me back "after lunch", which would be over "in no less than 15 minutes" ("15 minutes" seems to be some sort of default BS story at this place).  An hour went by.  No call.  I'm now looking for another salon (there are quite a few others with high ratings in town) and will never have any cut or service at Square Root again.  Sorry but it is ridiculous to say you'll call someone back "in 15 minutes"... FOR 24 HOURS.

Great service, skill, and people in general. They cater to any hair type last I checked.

Highly recommend Merideth. I've never gotten a disappointing cut or colour from her.

Cool salon full of down to earth and talented people. Mariah (Level 2) blew me away with the amazing women's cut she gave me (I wear it boyishly short, so lots of room for error, but she was great!). Asked all the right questions, fantastic cut, very friendly and warm. Will definitely be back.

Siobhaen did an amazing job on my hair! I love the color and cut, and the style was perfect for the wedding I was in! She gave a great head and shoulder massage at the beginning and then a hand massage while we waited for my dye to finish. She's personable, professional, and easy to talk with! I would recommend her for any type of hair needs! My hair is thick and difficult and she still did an incredible job on it!
