Came in the fall and it was beautiful! Fun activities on the weekends for the kids, very well kept campsites, and some amazing hiking trails. Be prepared to drive to the beach area or some of the historic sites in the park though.

Love that park. Too bad that mother nature had to destroyed park scenery. (Bad storm) Now it looks even better with new growth.

It is a pity that with a park so large the only available camping is stacked up like a shanty town. This is fine for the camper who brings an RV or is used to screaming children (having some of their own), but do not camp here with the hope that you'll enjoy any peace and quiet, or privacy. Fortunately there are many other less-developed campgrounds in the area on both sides of the river, but again it is too bad that true rustic camping is not available at this park of 34,000 acres. Despite the hordes of people, the park facilities are maintained VERY CLEAN- impressive. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The setting of the park is also lovely and there are extensive trails for cyclists or day-hikers that are sure to please. Finally, the excellent range of flora and fauna found all along the St. Croix valley is robust here, and an extensive burn barren provides a lot of good berrying in season.

It has a nice swim beach. The fire tower is neat. There are a lot of sugar bees. Bring a lot of bug spray. The campgrounds are well maintained.

I have been coming to this park for years and have always had a great experience. The park has a little something to do for everyone from BIKE riding, kayak and canoeing, hiking, Horseback riding, walking or just plain hanging out by the fire. The park has a lot of wildlife and things to see if your lucky you may even see a rare glimpse of a bear. Its a peaceful place even with nice showers and actually hot water. The park staff has always been friendly and helpful.
