Story

Established in 1945, St. Francis Medical Center is the only comprehensive non-profit health care institution serving Southeast Los Angeles. We provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for the nearly 700,000 adults and 300,000 children who count on us for high quality, compassionate medical care.

St. Francis Medical Center is committed to meeting the health care needs of the whole person and respecting the dignity of each patient.

We operate a 384-bed acute care hospital, two community-based health clinics, and one of the largest and busiest private emergency trauma centers in Los Angeles County — treating 84,400 children and adults each year. Last year, more than 5,000 babies were born at SFMC’s Family Life Center, with 875 babies cared for in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Center.

Our Healthy Community Initiatives bring health care services to children and families in their schools and neighborhoods. In addition, we operate the Children’s Counseling Center for abused and neglected children, a Health Benefits Resource Center to link individuals and families to health insurance and social service programs, and a broad range of educational and community services programs that improve the health and well-being of children, adults, and seniors throughout our service area.

Terrible service. The nurses do not keep you informed on procedures. Have been here since 630 this morning time now is 3 p.m apparently they are waiting for a room so my grandma can recover. Nurse Ben would get me information on my grandma and I was never informed. Called the help desk three times and still nothing. Last time they hung up on me. This place is terrible. They should be taught common courtesy on informing patients family members on what's going on. TERRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT COME HERE. This place is so bad if I could give it no stars I would!. Nurse Jimmy was very helpful the rest need to take some classes on common courtesy. Dear God!

nurses in surgery dept were great...but CHECK YOUR PARKING TICKET TIME STAMP they ARE RIPPING YOU OFF BY 20MINS. of course they threw me to voicemail today 7/14/17 as to not take my complaint....the gate security guards, totally incompetent and arguing with me that "apperently not!" when we said my ride had literally just came in to pick me up ...hopefully they resolve it or someone will sue for sure. this is part of your documentation of the matter for whoever decides to. You're welcome.

For the most part nurses were very nice although some unexperienced. The big problem here was the doctor, took 24 hours for us to even see the doctor for 5 minutes, after two days sent my sister home with no medications or causes of her pain, we had to go to another Hospital 4 hours later since she couldn't bare the pain at home. No fast service here and very unprofessional care. Very disappointed for such a beautiful hospital.

I was at hospital to do implant on my arteries. The floor of cardiology I have good services and where sweet and my Doctor Singh is a great person. When they done transfer me recovery room,on the floor was not enough nurses and I noticed short personal and they didn't have good courtesy for the patient, they need to put personal that love to be a nurses, that I was saw. Some people didn't like hospital, but myself I was 7 hrs. I will like to tell director of hospital to give good services to patients, we deserve good services.

Telephone operators can at least acknowledge your call by saying "Thank you, I will connect you," I asked for medical records and the operator, I guess, transferred the call to somewhere, where the phone just kept ringing, then went to automated service and ended up hanging up on me. Made a second call selected #1 (English), pressed 0, and hung up again. Third time - same thing. 4th time - Operator answered and did say "one moment" and I was able to get a live person at medical records dept. finally, on the 4th call.
