It depends on the worker working the issue, some help you completely and quickly, like this one older white guy and this other younger black girl, and some blow you off and your benefits get cancelled, like the little Asian guy that resembled one of my Chinese uncles. I first went in, months ago, to check on how much I could work odd jobs and the like, for spending money, without my benefits getting cancelled. A white guy around my dad's age was very helpful and courteous and told me that I could definitely work 15, and possibly push it to 20 hours, and that the amount of income didn't matter. I then went in, Monday the 17th, because my disability insurance claim was cancelled after I reported shifts in a nonprofit's warehouse after the fact, instead of before. I only made a couple hundred dollars, anyways, out of several shifts. I went in, and got it taken care of that day, with the deposit immediately credited to my account by this black girl that looked to be in her late 20's/early 30's. She did ask if my income would increase. I'm on call and the work's inconsistent. She asked about the amount made, not the hours worked. A couple days later, I get a letter saying that it's being cancelled because I haven't gone to enough doctors appointments. Firstly, my neurologist is only available 4x/year, needing 3 months' notice to schedule an appointment. Secondly, he's not covered by Medi-Cal, so I have to save $50/month to pay out of pocket. Thirdly, I had seen my PCP twice or 3 times in the past few weeks, so the claim was invalid, anyways. So, the following Tuesday, the 25th, I go in to check on THAT notice, at great difficulty for someone like me, that has trouble getting around, and get seen by this twitchy little Asian guy that looked like he was on some drug or another. I show him the letter, and give him a handwritten note to file that invalidates it, and ask for the form that the letter demanded that was not included in the envelope. He tells me that they don't accept forms in person, and that they have to be mailed, and, but doesn't have an envelope to give me. As for the form, he says, "We don't do that. You can find it online and print it." I don't have access to a printer. He's obviously trying to get rid of me without helping me at all. He says that the computer tells him that the issue has been resolved, and that I can disregard the letter. I tell him that the issue that was resolved was a different issue, and explain that I had just been there two days prior, and resolved it separately. "It says it's been resolved. So, you're all set." That was ladt Tuesday. A payment was scheduled for Saturday, the 29th, that I need to make rent the following day. Lo and behold, it never shows up in my account. I'm still unable to log-in online, after multiple complaints, so I can't see why. It always takes me 90 minutes on hold to get anyone over the phone. So now I have to go back in, which is particularly difficult for me, and re-write my personal statement, that he instructed me to throw out, and try to resolve it, again...now that my rent is late. All because the little Asian guy behind the counter was high. I don't just want him fired for this. I want my transportation costa and the late rent fees reimbursed. This is ridiculous. Wish me luck.

Finally talked to someone after approx 4 hours of trying. The computerized prompts are endless, useless, and there is no fast way to get in the Que to talk to a real person. When I finally did, she was RUDE, shouting at me same info over and over even though I was asking different questions. She HUNG UP ON ME!! This is a state office. I demand better behavior. Add to that the stress of even having BE on disability. Shameful, embarrassing to our state.

I have had to return to this place multiple times to ensure that I got SDI for my injury, only to find out in order to get it I have to have my previous employer to sign a letter saying I not longer work for them. When I gave them the letter, they said they would call me back within 7 business days to confirm the letter. Never got a call back. Tried to go through their phone service but never got through to the actual office itself.

Never very helpful. But better than trying to talk to someone on the phone.

You can never speak with any one. at 8:03 am, they aren't taking anymore calls. My dates are incorrect and I've asked I don't how many times, but nothing has been done as yet.
