I purchased items and was told with a receipt I had 60 days to return any items I did not wish to keep. When I went back with my return and receipt still within time frame, the cashier was unable to give me credit. After enterering the information for the return a slip of paper came out with a notice saying return can not be completed. I questioned the cashier who sent me to another cashier to see if she could complete the return and she received the same notice. I then asked to speak with a Manager who again tried to return and received same message. All three employees were clueless as to why this happened. The Manager said she had been there 12 years and have never seen this slip of paper. She had me call the 800 number on the form and all they could tell me is that I have had too many returns! NO WHERE ON RECEIPT DOES IT SAY AFTER SO MANY RETURNS WE WILL NOT TAKE ITEMS BACK! The Manager took my name and number and said she would contact her Manager and get back to me. She has not gotten back to me as yet. I went back to Steinmart again yesterday hoping it was just there computers that day, but same thing happened. I asked to speak with the Manager, but the one I previously spoke to was not working. I spoke with the one on duty. She said there is nothing they can do at the store, but she will speak with Regional Manager and get back to me. I gave her my name and telephone number. I just recently started shopping at Steinmart so I don't feel I have had too many returns. I can also tell you that I will never purchase another item in that store. If this is their policy, I think when you ask the question about their return policy, the answer should be that only so many returns can be made in a certain time period and that Steinmart has the right not to make a return. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ENFORCED AFTER THE SALE AND WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF THIS POLICY THAT EVEN THE EMPLOYEES AND MANAGERS ARE UNAWARE OF. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. NO ONE WILLING TO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP. I WOULD NOT GIVE THIS STORE EVEN A 1 STAR. So much for it all about making the customer happy. I have spent alot of time trying to get my money back. Very frustrating!

Often I would give Steinmart a 4, but the cashier today was unfriendly which can ruin the whole trip. They have a good selection and mostly good prices but you have to watch the quality on some of the less expensive items.

Somehow this company got hold on to my mailing address and it is very difficult to get myself taken off. They keep hanging up on me it has been over 15 mins since I tried to call for the first time and so far no success. I dont even color my hair yet for gods sake so I dont really understand why did they targeted me. I prefer to look at live trees rather then having them delivered to my front door in form of junk mail!
