About

Keeping it real in the Cascades for 80 years and counting.

Story

Located on the crest of the Cascade Range, we receive abundant and frequent snowfall. Cool air often drifts from the eastern slope of the range through the Stevens Pass area, keeping our snow relatively dry. Stevens is located on two national forests, the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie on the west side of the crest and the Wenatchee National Forest on the east. Our forested area is predominately Pacific Silver Fir, Mountain Hemlock, and Subalpine Fir, offering a visual treat when covered by fresh snowfall. The winter weather is usually comfortable, with temperatures often in the mid-twenties.

Snowfall & Terrain:
We've got lots of it! Averaging 460" of snowfall each year, 105" of annual average snowpack, covering 1,125 acres of skiable terrain, including 39 major runs and numerous bowls, glades and faces.

Easy access to the pass and the resort! It is very easy to find many amenities. Primary downside is the availability of parking. The main lot fills up very quickly, followed by the second lot which is about 2 miles east of the main lot. The third and final lot, about 4 miles further east, also called the Stevens pass Nordic Center, can fill up quickly. Best bet for parking is to worker get there incredibly early or wait until 1-2 pm. Rental prices was smooth. Slopes were well maintained. The entire resort is well staffed!

The actual resort was great! Beautiful, clean, and the runs were amazing. The bar/restaurant staff has no clue though. We sat at out table for an hour before getting our food after we ordered. The waitress didn't come back to check on us, give refills, or explain why it was taking so long. Then we returned to the bar at the end of the day and the same waitress (Jessica) completely ignored us, didn't ask for our order, say hi, or even look at us when we tried to get her attention. Although she did attend 3 men at the table right next to us every 5 minutes.

Best little mountain in the Cascades! It’s worth the hike to get there from Seattle compared to other options and has some of the better snow most winters. When the film mountain is open there is really ample and varied terrain. The ski school program is the best we’ve found in the US and with reasonable rates for the excellent levels of instruction. Weekends can get really busy and parking space can run short, so for just days plan to arrive by 8am for a decent parking spot.

Great mountain and mostly great staff. But there are a couple major setbacks. 1) going on the weekends. The parking needs to be expanded. I have now been turned away 3 Saturdays in a row showing up within 15 minutes of opening. 2 weeks ago the parking staff was very rude about it as well. I did not spend extra money on the premium pass to be turned around every weekend 2) only some of the lift operators quad people up on busy days. Usually only skyline, it's infuriating to be waiting in line for 30 minutes watching one or two people getting on the chairs. When they are busy they must fill the chairs or it just makes the wait long for everyone 3) Stevens doesn't enforce a park pass. By allowing anyone and everyone to take brooks to ride through the park, it makes it not only dangerous, but not using the features properly destroys the definition of the jumps and kickers to the rails. Not to mention drop-ins are not called. It's only a matter of time before a small child is waiting underneath one of the jumps out of site and is seriously injured. Free style parks should only be used by advanced riders. However using skyline and dropping the shoots after 4pm is perfect because it takes the accessibility away from those who shouldn't be there.

Cool mountain. Has a decent amount of chairlifts with a mixture of high speed quad, triple chair and the old fashioned double chair. Rope tow for the fresh starters. Terrain is varied and I like the steeper hills (seems more prevalent in the cascades). The place gets busy on the weekends so plan accordingly. Nice lodges and the outdoor seating is pretty cool, we found an area with fireplaces. You get toasty without the humidity in the lodge.
