I love shopping LOCAL, big box stores jet when they lose ANY profit - just like Payless Shoe Source did to our community. LOCALs do not. They work it and struggle like the rest of us. Payless made a mistake when they thought people in the USA that were their target market - small towns, etc..., could or would pay $40 for a pair of flip flops just because they have a plastic gem glued to the strap. I think the marketers and the buyers are way off base and they will see a significant decline by closing the hometown stores rather than changing their new structure back to what got them where they are. Real BOGOs. Not BOGO 1/2! Most bargains are perception and they got greedy. LOCALs on the other hand see their target market everyday and adjust. I like Sullivan's. It is clean, I know the people, the meat department is good, the produce fresh. What's not to love.
