Charming old house converted to a breakfast lunch style restaurant.  We found this place and loved it!! The place was full of customers, we did not wait long. Food was delicious, interesting and reasonably priced, coffee was bold and delicious, staff were friendly and service was exceptional! We were very entertained by how quickly staff ran up and down stairs to ensure good service as this is a 3 level eatery. Before we left for home we returned by unanimous decision for our last meal on this trip in Chicago! We will definitely return!

Very good food and service in general, but both can be inconsistent. At one sitting, we had perfect scrambled eggs, very good banana pancakes garnished generously with perfectly fresh berries, and really disappointing peaches-and-cream French toast made with obviously canned peaches (this right in the middle of the season for fresh peaches!) 
 A big plus, though: real maple syrup.
 Several servers helped us during two recent visits. One was a bit cranky and unhelpful, while the others were very pleasant and efficient.  .
 If you like the standard egg dishes well cooked, plus some unusual and very tasty other ones, like whole-grain buckwheat pancakes, this place is well worth a visit.

Delicious food and even better service. The owner makes you feel like family as soon as you sit down. Oh, and the butter tastes like heaven.

Overpriced garbage! Having experienced substandard eateries in this part of town before, I should have known better than to avoid this place. First red flag: although friendly and welcoming, I could not help but notice a sense of desperation of the manager as he greated and directed would be patrons at the entrance. Second red flag: I ordered a salted caramel mocha which tasted more like watered down Swiss Miss with decorative foam. Third: I ordered the Oscar Benedict which was not only thoroughly uninspired and bland, it contained a hair, preventing me from finishing this abomination. Final red flag: an unsettling display of the waitstaff and management engaged in argument. My advice is to head to Hutch or Bernies if you prefer get the quality and service you pay for.
