The Church of the Nazarene was founded in October 1895, by a group of people in Los Angeles who left the Methodist Church. Since then, we have grown to be an international church with approximately 7,000 churches in 125 countries, comprised of 1,200,000 members.
Nazarenes are an evangelical church, adhering to the Holy Scriptures of God. Traditionally, we follow the holiness movement started by John Wesley (who founded the Methodists) in the 18th century revival. We believe in a God of love and grace, who offers eternal life to all who have faith in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son.
Sunnyside Church of the Nazarene began meeting in Mount Scott Elementary School in March 1992. In 1996, we purchased the property on which our building now sits. Construction began in May 2000, on a limited budget and a lot of volunteer help. God richly blessed our entire building process and we celebrated our first service in our new church home on Easter Sunday 2001.
Our purpose is to lead people to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and make disciples of all believers.
