Great staff, some of the best instructors in the West work here. Really appreciate the professionalism and warm hospitality of the Navajo people. Thank you White Mountain Apache Tribe. If anything, please keep investing in making the facilities and equipment better, a little each year. Been skiing here since I was six. I’m forty an now my five year old and my nine year old girls learned to ski here as well.

It's a true hidden gem. Friendly, NOT crowded. Great slopes. Reasonable prices. Check them out for new years. They had an awesome buffet and live music party with outdoor camp fire and free smores. Family friendly and adult liquor or plain cider or hot chocolate for the kiddos 😎

The only ski resort in Arizona that is worth going to. Sunrise has two peaks and multiple lifts that all go to different places. Rarely do I find long lift lines (I'll admit that I'm not a fan of lift lines). We have had some truly lovely days on the Apache Peak even though the lifts are slower. Sunrise doesn't do a great job of advertising, but they're working on it. The on-mountain food is above average (although they have no idea if anything is safe for a Celiac). They also have prepackaged snacks, chips, candy and drinks. Cocoa is good, chili in a bread bowl always hits the spot after a morning of skiing. Ski school is less than perfect, you might get an instructor who has spent less time on the slopes than you. I always recommend learning to ski with an instructor in Colorado where there is snow more than a couple of months/year & some of the ski instructors haven't seen summer in 5+ years. Sunrise does have little ski school tho and a nursery for the little kids. They're really very good here about helping you with your gear in the rental shop. Rentals are decent (tho you might do better at ski pro in town) & they're pretty fast. They're also willing to do a quick wax or adjustment on the gear you own, much appreciated in a bind. Snow conditions are typically very good, grooming in nice. Great place to ski 3 hours from PHX.

One of the only two tribally owned ski resorts in the world & the only one that is located on tribal lands. Owned & operated by the White Mountain Apache tribe on the Fort Apache reservation. This resort has year round activities including a zip line & some of the most incredible scenery & wildlife you'll ever experience.

My family has gone here for years. They are so reasonable when compared to some places you could go in CO or UT. They are family friendly and the powdery snow is perfect. It is not usually overrun with people like Alta or Telluride get sometimes.
