Small theater rooms with your usual amenities of the theater including fresh popcorn and soda. It's reasonable pricing for Manhattan locale and provides an assortment of indie films. If you are in the area and feel like supporting the indie film industry , come here and take your pick!

I'm not a NYC native. I'm writing this because I had the opportunity to watch In Between on the 11th of January, 2018 at Sunshine Cinemas before it got shut down -- merely 17 years after opening. The building had always been a place to showcase a form of theatrical entertainment since its inception. It started off as a Yiddish Theater in the late 19th century. In Between is a great movie. The staff were wonderful. And I made a friend from the audience after talking about In Between. Thank you, Sunshine.

Wow sorry to see it go I had only been here once to see Bill Nye the science guys movie, he's one of my favorite people so it was a great experience for me . You could tell the place had a cool history, didn't seem like it would be going anywhere but ciest la vie.

Great, eclectic movie theatre showing the small indie stuff and blockbusters in there limited release phase. Wide variety of concessions (they just stocked Melt ice cream sandwiches!), but on the pricey side. If you like having the opportunity to see something before it hits big or want to see something small that seems to be gone everywhere else, this is the theatre for you. Cozy chairs, friendly staff, and a short walk from a ton of different activities, make this the perfect start or end point for a day (or night) of activities.

I was saddened to hear the news that the Sunshine Cinema in the Lower East Side was closing down. It is a theater with character that pays homage to some of Hollywood's best films of today and the past. I love their weekend midnight screening of classic cinema which varies from genre to genre (I've seen everything from "The Room" to "Return of the Living Dead" here). The popcorn and drinks were a little bit on the pricey side, but all-in-all, whenever I visit the Sunshine Cinema it's always a good time.
