If you're serious about academics and/or getting a good job, don't go here. + Some great professors, particularly in the Biology Department + I'm in the minority, but I like the location. + You can usually find a nice, quiet spot in the library to get work done - Whiny, entitled, lazy, stupid classmates. The majority of students here just want to scrape a C+/B- without cutting into their party schedule - In your average 100-level class, maybe 1-in-5 students will do the assigned reading - Anytime students have to do work outside of class time, they whine about the workload - Lots of rude/unhelpful staff - Maybe 5-10 people in each graduating class get what would objectively be called a "good outcome." Nobody ever gets into medical school, maybe 5 students in the last 30 years have gone to top law or business schools. Granted, if you want to go on to get a MA in Gender Studies from the University of Southern Idaho, you could do worse. The videos and flyers they post for the graduating class say it all. Sure, lots of people go to grad school, but most of them are going to unranked social science programs that give them virtually no chance at a good job. A couple are getting good jobs with good companies, but the majority are either unemployed, or making $25-30K in some dead end job. I have classmates who've succeeded since leaving here, but this school had nothing to do with it.

SUNY Oneonta is a very good college with quite rigorous academics (for the most part) with 5 nationally accredited and recognized majors that land excellent white collar jobs if graduating with good grades, all with just a 4 year degree. The professors are EXCELLENT, every single one I have had there in 5 years with the exception of ONE are quite exceptional teachers many whom are world renowned in their field as well as kind, accessible, and for the most part approachable and down to earth. If one plays ones cards right you can leave Oneonta with a bachelors degree from a college whose academics and student population get better with each passing year as well as fond memories of parties, friends, and the whole college life experience.

Both my husband and I attended Oneonta and we absolutely loved it. Great teachers, good size campus and tons of groups to join. Counselors were easy to get in contact with and very helpful.

SUNY Oneonta is an excellent college! The academics are awesome and the professors here are very helpful, such as helping out their students with material after class. Also, the campus is beautiful. They're about halfway done with the construction on Fitzelle hall and it will be done next summer. My only complaint would be regarding Sodexo (the dinning service). They could use a little more variety in their food choices. For example, even with three dining halls they serve almost the same things. In addition, more fresh food and ingredients incorporated into the dining halls would be great, but overall the food is okay.

Do people really choose colleges based on Google reviews?? This isn't a burrito, people. PS - Loved it.
