Story

Super 8 offers a complimentary SuperStart Breakfast, including coffee, tea, juice, milk, cereal, and an assortment of baked deliciousness! Super 8 has always had a love for freedom and the open road, believing that everyone should be free to get away. In 1974, Super 8 began this vision with our first hotel in Aberdeen, South Dakota offering rooms for $8.88 per night, making that part of South Dakota available to anyone on the road in need of a place to stay. It was the original “super” destination. With this modest proposition and a restless spirit, Super 8 set out to find other destinations around the country and make them 'super'. Super 8 had its own great American road trip, and marked each location along the way with a sign. A sign that represented value, a sign that meant that this destination was available to anyone heading that way. Now, the sign has become a familiar roadside icon with over 2,100 destinations available in the US and Canada. And free high-speed Internet access and free SuperStart breakfast make any destination SUPER. So remember, even when times are busy and travel seems impossible, you do not have to go far or spend a lot of money to go somewhere super. Just look for our sign.

This was a dated motel. There was no elevator to the second floor which was reached by a metal staircase which reminded me of a factory. There were two long black hairs in the shower and neither my husband nor I have long hair. The Continental breakfast did not have Danish, muffins or scones, but very generic white and possibly wheat bread, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, toaster waffles and plastic cups of fruit. The yogurt, orange juice and coffee we're fine. The printer was not functioning, so we could not get a receipt. The staff was pleasant.

This by far is the dirtiest motel I have ever stayed at. The carpeting was so disgusting I put my shoes on to go to the bathroom from the bed. We covered the upholstered chair with our own blanket before we sat in it. It looked like it had been quite "used" if you know what I mean. I will never stay at this motel again. The room smelled so funky like a mix of dirty carpet and smoke. It was just disgusting.

Great location. Good prices. Friendly staff. Rooms could use a bit of updating. For me it's great, a nice room, to call home base as I explore the region.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel I must in this case in order to warn potential customers of this particular motel. I would give it one star were it not for the truly kind and helpful staff we encountered at every turn, but the positives stop there. The room, which was designated as a no-smoking room, smelled horribly of cigarettes and mildew. The rug was stained in numerous places with an assortment of substances and had no less than 15 cigarette burn marks on it. The bedspread had two spots where something (likely a cigarette) had burned a hole in it and overall, the room was just old and tattered. The bed was somewhat comfortable, but really just passable. The "continental breakfast" consisted of cold, premade waffles, slices of sandwich bread, cups of yogurt and a bowl of peeled, unrefrigerated hard boiled eggs. Sure, it was just $140 a night, but wow, what a dump. If we'd had the foresight, we would have been happy to spend $200 more to stay at the Fairfield a 1/2 mile down the road.

Across the street from the VA hospital. two floors, no elevator, so pack light. rooms are surprisingly up to date, clean and comfy. My showerhead wasn't great, but for a simple and affordable stay, was very pleasant. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.
