We went for lunch and we were late getting back to work because the service was soooooooo slow and all we ordered were sandwiches! And, honesty, our waitress acted like she didn't want to be there. The place is beautifully and interestingly decorated though.

Can not believe the owner would admit he was the owner after demonstrating his incompetence and lack of knowing of what was going on in the place. We called ahead to see what the wait would be were told about 20 to 25 minutes, we thought we were in luck with such a short wait we got there shortly. When we got there only one group was waiting to be seated, we thought we were in luck. But then no one came to the hostess stand for 15 minutes and 2 other groups had joined us waiting, had we thought wrong, had our luck changed. Then a nice lady came over and apologized for the wait and said all the group's would be seated in just a minute, ah we thought yes we are in luck. After another 15 minutes pass, we thought our luck may have changed again. But, Then a man sat the first group and then came back and said it would be at least an hour till we could be seated, surely our luck could not of took a u turn that fast on university Blvd. I explained what I was told on phone and by the nice lady. He said things change he owns the place and knows what he was talking about in an extremely condescending tone. WOW! NOTHING SWEET OR HOME LIKE AT THIS BAR.

Sweet Home Food Bar is incredible. They serve some delicious gourmet sandwiches and the price is very reasonable. One of my favorite places to eat in all of Tuscaloosa. They have great breakfast foods too.  BACON? ABSOLUTELY!

I read the negative reviews and compared them with our experience. We are a family of 5 visiting our middle son who is a student at UA. We were arrived at 12:30 pm on a beautiful Sunday. We were met almost immediately at the door and originally seated down a dark hallway but upon request, seated in the front dining room. Our server took our drink requests very quickly then cheerfully was back for the brunch orders. Coffee was served-it was weak. Food was presented 12 minutes after a orders taken. We were checked on twice by our server and a 3rd time by a gentleman who refilled the coffee and water. We ordered Chicken and Waffle, Apple Pancakes (out of apple so strawberries), and breakfast nachos. Food was great. Service excellent. Decor is good ( exposed brick, mismatched objects, etc) A bit pricey. I would recommend without hesitation.

Love it. They have wine pairing events every Wednesday at 7. Great place to hang out with friends without going to a bar. Love The owners Debra and George... Be sure to reserve if you are going
