Taco Palenque University Dr.
"Don Pancho had a vision to create a fast casual Mexican restaurant that would provide true Mexican flavor. This is how the Palenque chain was born. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico and now a U.S. citizen, Don Pancho originally founded El Pollo Loco© which was a success that led him to open his first Taco Palenque® back in 1987 in Laredo, Texas. Taco Palenque® is mainly known for its authentic Mexican tacos. It has become the ultimate place to spend time with family and friends while enjoying a meal. In fact, positive word of mouth has had a major impact on our satisfied customers. There are several Taco Palenque® locations operating throughout the south region of Texas and are continuing to grow."

Delicious breakfast and lunch food, and perfect size portions. My favorite restaurantFood: 5/5
Ordered the two pirata Jr combo. This was what it looked like. Thought maybe they accidently put too little of the meat in my taco, so I brought it up to one of the employees, and I guess the manager heard and said that there was no mistake. "The pirata Jr taco only has 1 oz of meat." So yeah... $15 meal comes with 2 oz of meat, carrots beans and a drink. Just FYI.
Food is normally super good, but this time, the fajitas were not tender, and the tortilla were on the tough side. The tacos were not warm but the fideo was delicious. Kinda disappointed after looking forward to the tacosFood: 4/5
I’ve ordered the same meal 2 Taco Pirata’s at the Trenton & 281 location and they had it ready in 10mins. This location on University Dr. took 25mins and there were hardly any people there, Trenton is much busier than University location and they can keep up with their orders. They have to work on getting their orders out fast, made me loose half of my lunch time just wait time.
Good was okay, but not amazing. Sauce bar needed to be freshened and they were out of chips. Fajitas were dry. The rest of the meal was pretty good. Generous serving size.Food: 4/5
I have tried to give this location many opportunities to correct their issues but their customer services really isn't the best. The tacos are often with ingredients outside the packaging. They always forget for the items I ask for on the side paid for or even the ones I am asked when placing the order. I don't see the point of being asked what salsas I want and then have them put the ones they want. Which in today's case were already expired and looked brown. I wouldn't mind if it was rish hour but I was literally the only vehicle in line. Their service has just been getting worse and worse. Sadly, the word of this has already spread around our office which typically eats there quite a bit.
GREAT VALUE for the QUANTITY and QUALITY of food they served. The sauce island was WELL STOCKED and had a PHENOMENAL VARIETY of condiments to further enhance the experience. The atmosphere was buzzing with POSITIVE ENERGY and PROFESSIONAL. I now see why it's called the taco PALENQUE!!!
This is my second bad experience at this location literally within a span of 1 month. I got overcharged once and now today I find a large whole bug in my fideo. I had just eaten my chicken fajita burrito before I found the bug. Now I'm feeling kinda nauseous because I don't know if the burrito might have had something also. This place is really declining fast not sure if it's new staff or what but it's not worth going unless you want poor service and bugs in your food.
Was supposed to go out with my girlfriend and mama, but my girlfriend got busy and my mama was tired after getting off work. So I decided to come here. It's been a long time since I've been to Taco Palenque. So it it was good good substitute. A nice little solo lunch. In the midst of the coronavirus it's nice to know that some of my favorite spots to eat are still open. Social distancing is practiced here for dining in. So no need to worry about that.
The panchitos are always the go to meal for me. Customer service is great and staff comes around often if you need anything. Restaurant is clean and overall great experience.Food: 5/5
