Story

The vision for Take Root is to create a more compassionate, thriving, and economically strong community through the medium of sustainable and local food.

We value people, the planet, and community over profit. Our philosophy is that everyone, regardless of means, deserves the chance to eat nourishing food while being treated with dignity and respect.

We will provide 100% transparency in our actions and practices. We want everyone to know where our food is coming from, what we are putting in our bodies, and where the money is going.

We believe that when given the opportunity to do something good in this world, people rise to the challenge.

We have something for everyone, from American to International cuisine. We offer ominvore, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free meals and snacks. Everything is organic, non-GMO, or no spray. We never serve anything with artificial ingredients. We want YOU to feel good about what you put in your body.

Love the idea of this place, but the food left a little to be desired. It's all very healthy, organic and locally grown, but I wish we had known that there was an actual menu, not just what was written on the board. There's an awesome kid's play area and the feel is very casual. They also let people donate whatever they can for the meal and just give a "suggested price". If you go above the suggestion, it goes towards others who may be unable to afford a meal. There are meal tokens covering the wall of people who have given a free meal to those in need. It's really an awesome mission and I'm really glad somebody is doing it. They also have events, like a free tasting walk, where we will walk around and try various edibles from the wild. We are very excited for tomorrow!

Unique dining experience. Casual and trendy. Well prepared and presented dishes. Largely vegetarian menu. Local farm to table selections. Heathy and delicious with many ethnic offerings.

What's not to love about this place? The meals are out of this world and present unique flavors on familiar themes. The desserts are top notch, and even for this non-coffee drinker, they make damn fine coffee. The staff and volunteers are always kind and welcoming. The venue is inviting as well. I enjoy meeting up at Take Root with friends.

Great food, made to order. Great concept and service! Gluten free options were available and staff was very knowledgeable about them. Overall perfect meal!

This Cafe is wonderful.  This unique approach to running a restaurant is inspirational.  Take Root lets you pay what you can addord.  You can also work for your meal.  This is a kindness needed in the world.  That is only one feature of this establishment.  They use natural ingredients from local places.  They also hold classed for various food products.  I highly recommend this place and will return over and over.
