Story

Tangent Cycles is a work of passion. Passion for cycling. Passion for handbuilt bicycles and wheels. Passion for helping people achieve the perfect fit.

After a long career of owning a retail bicycle pro shop, John Drake has moved to Asheville, NC to open a custom bike and fit studio. His past store truly enjoyed the custom handbuilt side of cycling but with a large retail store comes large responsibilities ranging from shift manager to accountant to technician. Tangent Cycles is an appointment only studio giving every customer 100% focus and dedication.

Working with some of the industry's best builders, customers will receive a product and experience that will change their view of what a bicycle purchase should be like. Enjoy one of John's famous espresso drinks before a fitting and marvel at his extensive collection of both rare vintage and modern bicycles.

Tangent Cycles provides Retul motion capture fittings using either ones' existing bike or the Retul Muve fit bike. Retul provides fittings to improve both performance and comfort on the bike.

Tangent Cycles provides Retul Futbed Cycling Insoles for customers wishing to achieve greater foot comfort with custom insoles.

For years John has had a relationship with Kent Eriksen of Kent Eriksen Cycles. Tangent Cycles will take the process from the first conversation about a custom titanium bike to the finished product (and probably go on a ride with you afterwards!).
