TAPEO NJ is a contemporary Tapas restaurant and lounge offering a unique selection of modern Portuguese and Spanish cuisine. Our array of innovative tapas and main courses were developed and perfected at The Barcelona Cooking School in Spain, and provide a modern variation of the traditional dishes of Spain and Portugal. Our space has been recently renovated to provide our guests with a stylish, relaxing environment to enjoy our exclusive dishes, fine wine and signature cocktails. TAPEO is the ideal meeting place for friends and family to enjoy an intimate meal or a memorable night out.

I wanted to send feedback of my experience with TAPEO and their private event setup and execution. I booked the Barcelona room to throw my parents a surprise 40th Anniversary party last year June 2016. The actual night of the event did not go as smoothly as I would’ve planned. There is always some room for error but some things are just unacceptable. Aaron was our on-site event manager for the night of the event. Please see list below of grievances/disappointments/unprofessionalism of the night: • Party planner arrives to start setting up room and had to look for decorations for 40 minutes as there is no communication between hotel staff and restaurant staff. No restaurant staff was on site except for 2 people whom had no idea what we were talking about or where the decorations were located • There were not enough tables set up even though a floorplan was sent of what was needed. Nothing we needed in the room was changed from the original contract other than layout. We were basically told by kitchen staff; this is it and made it work. And were told we could use a table from the hallway and a table from the corner which we had to move ourselves. • Chair covers that were paid extra for in white were dirty with stains, some had holes in them, along with the tables clothes in white that also had stain on them. The room was setup by 10am these stains were clearly seen and should’ve been washed. Aaron also explained that the chair covers were all that you have on hand and that he put the best covers on the tables. If a client is paying for the covers, they should be washed, clean and not damaged. • There were various lightbulbs out throughout the room, which we also asked to be fixed when we came for a 2nd walkthrough in April. • There was no one on site to tell us anything and Aaron, whom the owner (Tony) told us was to arrive at 4pm arrived almost an hour late. Previously another member of the staff said someone would be there by 2pm. Aaron was very short with his responses when we voiced our concerns to him, after he arrived an hour later after his scheduled start time. Therefore, at 6:30pm (event started at 7pm) he was still looking for batteries for the column lights. And only got the far-right column to work. • We told months ago that we wanted to use the pillars in the room that are wrapped in lights and to make sure the batteries were changed and the lights worked – which they didn’t 3 pillars and only 1 lit up • The floor was not vacuumed and there were visible crumbs, French fries, toenails, etc. all over the floor and when we told Aaron he said well it is a really old carpet. Vacuums work on old carpets and if yours didn’t he should’ve had them sweep it like they did the carpet in the hallway outside the room. When I spoke with Aaron about the hall needing a vacuum, he said he would take care of it yet failed to do so. • I ordered in the initial contract red napkins that we picked from the color wheel. There were not enough red napkins for all the tables and when Aaron was told he said well he expected to have more but he didn’t have any. This was planned a year in advance there should’ve been preparation so now we had to alternate and use black and red napkins. The shortage of red napkins was unacceptable especially when the final head count and balance were given on time. • As part of my contract soda was included and it is clearly stated in contract but the staff was charging for sodas (spoke with bartender after showing contract and she confirmed at least 10 sodas were sold but there was no reimbursement). • Even after showing the bartender the contract in regards to the soda being paid for, she still argued that I wasn't right and said that soda would be free after the food was served - which had already happened at this point. Should have been free the entire time not just after food. And After giving feedback and owner seeing we were charged for drinks that were part of contract he did not offer any solution, refund, voucher, anything just they were sorry.

Went for a party. Steak was very good, potatoes and vegetables were very oily. Pasta and chicken were okay but got cold quick.

Vegetarian review. This is primarily a Latino/Spanish dancing restaurant. Very lively and nice people. The age group here is also older 50+ couples. The food is average at best. The vegetarian options are non-existent or inedible. We wanted to go to a tapas restaurant and this was not it. Big note: this is a restaurant in the Holiday Inn hotel.
