Taylor & Son in New Milford, CT, provides a complete line of hardware, a large selection of house paint, exterior paint, building materials, electrical and plumbing supplies, lawn and garden supplies. Equipment Rentals New Milford, CT Founded in 1901, by the now owner Harry Taylor’s father, who started the business on a “shoestring” budget. Mr. Taylor credits the success of H.H. Taylor & Son to the trust his father gained in the community. Over the years the business sold coal and oil, but hardware, lumber and building supplies are still the core products.

H.H. Taylor & Son thrives today because the current owner has changed with the times. There are more do-it-yourselfers as customers today. Mr. Taylor gives credit for the business’ longevity “to the people, the work here and the customers.” When he hires an employee, he said, he looks for “personality and a willingness to help customers and fellow associates. “Over the years we’ve been very fortunate,” Mr. Taylor said. The 35 employees represent more than 380 years of experience. “That’s better than a 10-year average,” he said. “I think that’s pretty good.”
