Negative Currency Exchange service.

Very unprofessional service. Employees are erratic - sometimes they blurt out sensitive information right at the counter, sometimes they demand multiple forms of ID. When setting up a business account, my representative forgot to have me sign an important document and upload it into my file. This caused a year of unexplained maintenance fees and TD Bank trying to swindle me out of about $200. She also criticized my business's name while I was setting up the account. Also, expect slow service and long waits. The good things about this bank are that there are many ATM's located around Burlington, VT and that the student personal checking account has laxer rules than most banks in the area. If you keep a close eye on your accounts and don't have to go in much, this is the ideal choice for a UVM or Champlain college student. Also, sometimes there are cash incentives to open accounts. The only employee there who know what is going on is "Josh", so it's my recommendation to talk to him if you can.

Absolutely awful. They'll hit you with fees every chance they get. Was charged $70 for an overdraft when in fact my account had sufficient funds and the pending charges barely exceeded my remaining balance. What about overdraft protection you say? I guess if your pending charges exceed your remaining balance before actually going through, they can hit you with an outrageous fee. Had these charges gone through instead of being in limbo, maybe overdraft protection would have kicked in but for some reason I doubt it...this bank has gotten worse and worse over the years. Oh, and the customer service? Non existent. I'll be taking my money elsewhere.

I'm from the South, where Bank of America is everyone's favorite bank (for good reason), but needed TD since I came up north for college and BoA is inexplicably not relevant here. I only kept a small amount of money in my student checking in case I needed cash for an emergency, and was charged with a random fee by TD (they kept changing the reason for the fee) that put me in overdraft territory. Since I never used the account, I didn't realize there was an issue (since nothing from my end had changed), until I was hit with a sudden $60 in overdraft fees. BoA is always more than willing to waive extraneous fees, but TD's attitude was basically, "well, how very unfortunate for you." I had to jump through several hoops to close my account, and it was an awful experience all around. Canceling a gym membership is easier.
