Story

Family-owned Tee Pee Mexican Food has been serving the Valley since 1958 – the bar/restaurant is located in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Tee Pee was started by Tony and Anna Duran. Tony bar-tended while Anna did the cooking. During the late 1970’s their daughter Kathy and son-in-law Zip started to run the family business. Now they are the owners and are teaching their children, Jefe and Julianna, to run the business. You can always find a family member at the Tee Pee – your server is probably a niece or nephew. You will always be greeted at the door by a friendly face. Our Manager, Shannon, started out bar backing in the late 1980’s and Tony Duran III is also following in the footsteps of the family tradition. We are all family at the Tee Pee!
The Tee Pee is nothing fancy. Like others in Phoenix it has often been referred to as a mom & pop restaurant. We serve our meals with paper napkins while you relax in one of our original booths. Some of our customers have been eating here for four generations and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

While you are waiting for your table you can browse the walls of fame. We have had many famous visitors come to our restaurant. President Bush and Willard Scott from the Today Show have been our guests, not to mention a great number of famous sports athletes and movie stars. Be it a famed celebrity or a local community hero, you never know who you might be sitting next to!

We serve authentic Mexican food. The recipes have been in the family for years. We serve all your traditional favorites such as beef and green corn tamales, albondigas soup, and the George W. Bush’s favorite: cheese enchiladas. We are famous for our chili rellenos which are like an egg soufflé. All of our food is homemade and prepared fresh daily. See our Menus page for a full list of our specialties. We also offer delicious party trays and for your larger events we can provide full service catering.

Normally I give them four stars but tonight they were a little off their game. The food was delicious as always, however tonight’s service is why I’m only giving three stars. The night started with not the most clean table and a dirty fork. My biggest complaint was with our waiter. When he brought my drink he referred to me as “guy”, and when he brought my meal referred to me as “buddy”. I am neither your guy or your buddy, I am your customer, and prefer to be addressed as “sir”. He did do right by informing me that the plate was hot, real hot. Finally it took forever for him to bring us our check. Although they were not on their “A” game tonight, I will definitely go back as I do like the restaurant.

Place is really great. I love the authentic feel of both the food and service. I had the mini tacos Very good. Would order that again next time. The salsa we had were also just about perfect. You can tell they care about the quality of their food here. If you want an excellent service, clean environment and good food i Highly recommend eating here. Thanks to whom ever making it possible👌👍👍

Love this quaint neighborhood icon. Atmosphere is very old school. The chips and salsa are full of flavor. I had the 3 way burro smothered in enchilada sauce. It was excellent and full of flavor. Portion was so large I took half home. Teepee is a must for a flavorful experience all around.

I went there for brunch with a party of 6 on a Sunday morning. I hadn't been there for quite a while. It was not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be especially for a football Sunday morning. The brunch menu was great. All your Mexican breakfast favorites. I had the chilaquiles which were really good. My nephew at my table got the huevos rancheros which also looked excellent and he said they were. The tee pee is always a good choice for solid Arizona Style Mexican food. Nothing fancy but the standards are always reliable and of course the portions are huge if you like that! Personally I'm not crazy about it but that's just me. Only give three stars because I'm a very hard grader. Almost nobody gets 5 stars from me. This is a solid choice for above-average Mexican American food.

Food and service were excellent! Portions were generous and food was fresh and hot to the touch while not overly spiced. You can actually taste the alcohol in the drinks (margaritas).
