About

The Tempe History Museum is a center where the community comes together to explore Tempe’s past, share its present and imagine its future.

Story

The museum features interactive exhibits, fun activities for kids, and frequent concerts, presentations and films. Admission is free!

The Tempe Historical Museum was founded by the Tempe Historical Society, a private non-profit group of citizens, which operated the Museum from its inception in 1972 until July 1, 1984 when it became a division of the City of Tempe's Community Services Department. In 2010, the museum was renovated to incorporate a community gathering space, a children's area and new permanent exhibits. This museum is a perfect choice for all ages.

Outstanding little museum focusing on the history of Tempe. Free! They also have an exceptional committee that arranges lunchtime lectures and presentations, monthly music groups, and other educational experiences for youth and adults. Did I mention it's all free? The building is part of a city complex with a library, art studio, senior center -- plenty of free parking, well lit at night, on bus routes, electric vehicle charge stations, and convenient to the 60 freeway. They now have a raised solar panel array that shades one of the parking lots! Tempe did a great job on this.

This place is always so much fun for the kids, and adults. There is so much to learn about the history of Tempe. There are couple of fun, and interactive displays. Entrance is free to the public. It's a fun little place to visit.

Pretty cool little place ... not that big, but it has plenty of history about the community, including local music, and it has a number of interactive exhibits, plus enough for the kids to do that they won't get bored if you want to spend a little extra time - not somewhere you're likely to visit more than a couple times (except maybe for events), but definitely worth checking out

Very nice and helpful staff. Amazon place for toddler and up, dress-up, photo sending options, very entertaining. Learning about telegraphs, controlling model trains, they also have summer programs and concerts during the fall. Love the place! Wheelchair and stroller accessible & friendly!
