About

As Concord's only synagogue, we are an eclectic blend of Jewish practices. At our heart, are warmth and a welcoming spirit to all who enter our doors.

Story

We are one of the oldest synagogues in New Hampshire, founded in 1907. Begun as an Orthodox synagogue, we affiliated with the Reform movement just after World War II. As Concord’s only synagogue, we are an eclectic blend of Jewish worship practices, as our members represent the full spectrum of Jewish diversity. At our heart, however, are warmth and a welcoming spirit to all who enter our doors. Whether you are Jewish by birth or by choice, married/partnered with someone who is Jewish, raising Jewish children, searching, or just curious, know that you are always welcome at TBJ. We hope you’ll find a home with us. L’shalom (with peace), Rabbi Robin Nafshi

Organized religion is one activity that I shy away from. And then there is the fear of being publicly observed under a group microscope. TBJ is fortunate to be led by Rabbi "Robin", a woman of supreme empathy for sentient beings. Just in one service, she spoke about intolerance. Indifference to hate crimes by the clergy is a cancellation of religion. Rabbi Robin spoke about the Orlando shooting in eloquent fashion. Regardless of whom we love or we choose to love, who has the right to punish was the theme of her sermon. Yamaka's off for the Rabbi.
