As Valdosta’s only Hebrew Congregation, Temple Israel provides Jewish families in South Georgia and North Florida with activities and worship services focusing on learning, spiritual growth and social interaction. In addition, Shabbat services are held every Friday night at 7:30 PM with Oneg immediately following the services.
The Valdosta Hebrew Congregation is an unaffiliated Jewish congregation which has operated in South Georgia since 1866. It serves as the only Jewish synagogue within a hundred mile radius that operates with a full-time rabbi year-round. Initially, the congregation was Orthodox, holding daily Minyan and Shabbat services. Currently the congregation leans between Conservative and Reform Judaism.
