Story

In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, “to meet Pan Am stewardesses.” Suddenly, there was a place with great food, new and exciting drinks and an electric energy. A place where bartenders mixed the environment just as well as they mixed drinks. In short, a place like nowhere else. Today, Fridays in Corpus Christi, TX is still America’s most iconic bar and grill. We embrace and celebrate our heritage as a bar. One that just happens to serve killer food in an environment where it’s always Friday.

Visited last Sunday at 5 pm, had not been in a TGI Fridays for several years, and was surprised at the "remodel" that completely removed any atmosphere that the former Fridays used to have with the displayed collection of things on the walls and ceilings. It sued to be a fun pace, now it is a sterile gray building. So this change was unexpected, and it looked like a sanitized Denny's, without the great prices. Even missed the red and white striped shirts the wait staff used to wear, now they wear gray shirts. Whoever in corporate thought this was a good decision needs to be immediately removed from their lofty position and put in as dishwasher. But the worst part was the food. My wife ordered the 10 oz strip steak, and it WAS a strip of meat, cut as thin as possible, possible weight after cooking was maybe 6 oz. I ordered the rack of ribs, and this must have been from a 10 pound pig, because the rack was the smallest I ever saw, and it was gray, not brown, and I made the mistake of trying it with the Jack D sauce, which was a thin sweet concoction that dripped all over when I dipped the meat into it and tried to eat it. Mistake. The cole saw was 1 oz of sliced cabbage in a watery sugary dressing with no taste other than sweet. Some of the fries were crisp and brown, the other half was not, don't know how they arranged that. We ordered the strawberry lemonade which was a glass filled with crushed ice, and some red strawberry coloring and flavor and a bit of lemon water for $3.95. Food was definitely below expectations, because I remembered how good Fridays was in the past, but some idiot decided to cut quality and portions in favor of more corporate profits. I wonder how Fridays profits now compare with 10 or 20 years ago thanks to its corporate geniuses bad decisions? They got my $50, but they will NEVER get another penny out of me or my family...

Jenna, our server was great and attentive. The food was good. My steak was slightly overcooked to my liking but still tasty. Fridays has consistency. And the atmosphere is pleasant.

Always a great time. Family friendly. Fun place. Great food. Friendly staff. Definitely me and hubby's go to!

Our server Justin was awesome! The food was delicious, the only problem was when we ordered a bud light it tasted horrible 😖 you know when you leave your beer in the sun or heat and then try to put it in the cooler. Yeah that’s how it’s tasted. We spoke to heather the manager and she was rude and didn’t want to hear it. Needless to say I’m not getting bud light from here again.

Had a b-day dinner w/ 15 + people. Our waiter was awesome. Remembered everyone's name and food. Great service but I wanted medium rare J.D steak but got medium well. But it was still delicious.
