The Bebop opened recently to replace the old Pad Thai Cafe that used to be here as part of a strip of lower priced restaurants serving a predominantly college aged crowd. The facelift was necessary, adapting and utilizing the space in an efficient manner. The theme plays into jazz and old music. This includes records and instruments adorning the walls with a subtle and maybe not so subtle Irish overtone. This establishment doesn't have a full liquor license, so you can get a Guinness or flavored martini, but no Jameson on the rocks or a classic vodka soda. Drink prices seem nominal and on par for the area. Food here is reminiscent of classic Irish dishes and local seafood favorites. The Shepard's Pie was fantastic and a staple dish of such a restaurant. On the contrary, the oysters were pricey and were served with a strange ketchup heavy cocktail sauce that made the sea creatures far too sweet for my blood. The service is good here, but that doesn't really seem to be the point. Food is a pretty general breakdown of bar and local favorites. The idea here, to me, is to serve as an ablebodied meeting point, complimentary with live music and a comfortable vibe.

Great food and drinks, but they often have light acoustic acts that are amplified to uncomfortably loud levels. What's the point of a quiet acoustic act if they're blasting through the speakers so loud that you can't talk to the person next to you? Most of these acts don't even need amplification at all!

We went to the Bebop today before going to the Red Sox game.IT WAS FABULOUS!!!The food was just perfectly cooked... the oysters were chilled to perfection as well. The staff is so friendly and up beat...and the service was quick. Didn't even have to ask for water it was the first thing they served us! We enjoyed the atmosphere a great deal the live music was awesome. We will recommend the Bebop to all our friends... they even have outside seating ! Just a Great place to hang out !♡♡♡♡

Was just thinking about how Boston could use more restaurants with local music when I noticed that this cozy spot had recently opened up in Back Bay. The Bebop crushes it with their jazz oriented decor and intimate stage setting. Check out the chandelier and instruments setup over the bar! If you love food and music, you'll love the vibe here.
