Cool pub/bistro. Nice selection of beer & fancy drinks. At my table we had club sandwich w/fries, fish & chips and shepherd's pie. We shared a maple creme brulee--rich and creamy.  Our waitress was helpful w/suggestions and great service.

The decor was cute, food was good. Service left something to be desired. After waiter came to take our drink order, telling us that although we we're waiting for one more person, we might want to order soon because a large table (15 LOUD adolescent girls celebrating a birthday) it took over 40 minutes for the drinks to arrive. We followed up about them twice, they finally arrived (we did get an apology which stated "oh I am so sorry, but we had to make special drinks for all those girls". Felt like the apology meant, Sorry, their drinks were more important even though we specifically asked you to order first.) My drink was an adult beverage, but my friend just ordered a Sprite. 40 minutes for a Sprite? And both drinks were on the bill.  A friend joined us about 15 minutes after we first ordered drinks, and she received her drink about 10 minutes later, still significantly before ours arrived. We all agreed that we enjoyed our food (fried chicken BLT, cheesesteak,  and poutine) but the lack of attentive service would make me hesitant about dining there again.

Good place. Extremely slow service. Maybe it will get better the longer they are of open.

UPDATE:   After going there again, the service is great.  The food continues to be great.

So disappointed in our trip to The Birch today. My friends and I wanted to treat our friend to a birthday brunch. Our waiter, Ivan, was missing throughout the majority of our meal and forgot to bring a lot of the items we ordered to our table. The brunch menu wasn’t explained very well and confused us. My boyfriend ordered a coffee with his meal which didn’t come until he asked for it again 20 minutes later when the waiter showed his face again. The whole place looked like no one was managing it. I wish an owner was there to see what we saw.

Struggle with this because one evening was great the next was terrible.  They were out of many dishes and waitress was the worst I'd come across in quite some time. However, In fairness, the owner was very responsive and I would definitely go a third time because it has a great Vibe and energy
