Story

The Boombox is Providence's first all-karaoke establishment. Located at The Dean hotel in Downtown Providence, The Boombox is inspired by the traditional "karaoke boxes" commonly found in Asia. Karaoke is available both in the main lounge, as well as in 5 private karaoke rooms which can be rented by the hour and accommodate 2-20 people.

This place is packed enough that a bouncer is required, so reserving one of their private rooms isn't a bad idea. I would suggest not cramming more than the recommended 10 people into the smaller room as there doesn't seem to be any AC in there and it gets _steamy_. The song selection is pretty standard (I was hoping for some more interesting stuff, given how hip everyone says the place is, but there was a decent selection for sure).

We had a great time at boombox, until our interaction with the woman backing the bar. She was so rude to our party. She was practically yelling at us like we were children. We won't be returning. It's a shame because we had so much fun, but I definitely don't want to pay to be mistreated by an over eager hipster.

Tiny main room. Its like 14x14. Too small a venue for some of the "powerful" vocalists.

It's so full all the time, but you can get the room and have fun with yours friends almost like private party. Preparing your voce because they have a big selection of songs.

Nice broad song selection, the private rooms are nice with decent soundproofing, and there's a good selection of sake to help ease into the karaoke.
