The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort

Story

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a themed camping resort located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area at the Walt Disney World Resort. It officially opened on November 19, 1971. The resort is adjacent to Bay Lake and Disney's River Country, a now-defunct water park. The resort is also located near Disney's Wilderness Lodge.ResortFort Wilderness was designed with a rustic theme. Tree-lined winding roads loop around to the various regions of the resort. Part of the resort is occupied by campsites where visitors with tents or recreational vehicles can stay. The remainder of the lodging area is occupied by cabins, designed to resemble log cabins.DiningThe resort hosts two dinner shows, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey's Backyard BBQ. A buffet called Trail's End And an RV themed food truck are also among the resort's dining options.RecreationThe resort features playgrounds and two heated swimming pools. Other activities include fishing and horseback riding. A 2.3mi paved and sand exercise trail extends from the pony farm to the Wilderness Lodge. They also provide canoes, kayaks, bikes, and tennis rackets to rent at the bike barn. Guests can make reservations to be taught archery and go horseback riding.EntertainmentLocated next to the Beach, guests can visit the Tri Circle D ranch, where the horses used by the Disney company are kept. Trail rides, Carriage and Hay rides, and a petting zoo are also available. Each night, the campground features the Campfire Sing-Along with Chip 'n' Dale presented by Pop secret. A Disney Cast Member leads songs in an outdoor amphitheater, while the characters Chip 'n' Dale approach seated audience members, signing autographs and posing for photos. Two firepits are available for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Following the sing-along, a Disney children's movie is shown on an outdoor screen. Here is where the fore mentioned food truck stands selling lunch and dinner. Also at night, the Electrical Water Pageant and the Magic Kingdom's Happily Ever After Fireworks Spectacular can be seen from Clementine's beach.

We love staying here. You get the perks of Disney Resorts but without the congestion. Nice bathrooms with private showers, nice pads, pet friendly and convenient transportation to the parks. I recommend taking the boat to (or from) Magic Kingdom during the fireworks. 😉 They also have lots to do right at the campground, with pools, a dog park, rentals (bikes, golf carts, boats), movie nights and special events (like the pumpkin carving contest in the photo).

Clean. Very flat paved sites. Wonderful sand area behind for extra tents or just hang out. Paved bike trails and ability to bike to bus or boat to get to parks. Although the interior busses run quite frequently. You can bring your own golf cart or rent. Turn into some sites is very tight for over 31 foot RV or long tag along. As long as nobody is parked across the street no problem as that adds to turn radius. Pleasant grounds and maintenance crews. Most everyone are friendly here in the campground.

The key to thriving in this campground - from tent site or RV pad - is having wheels for short hops. By wheels I mean bikes, skateboard, etc. Not a car - parking is limited at the main facilities where there are shows, meals and to-go counters and also shopping. Popping on your bike gets you there fast and you can leave your car at your camp site. Bring bikes or budget the Disney rental fee - you'll be glad you did.

Great place to stay, the cabins are awesome like little houses that can sleep up to 6. They have a couple of pools, one with a water slide. A fire at night for roasting marshmallows, a singalong and a movie under the stars. Easy access to the magic kingdom by boat, our kids love it here.

What is there to say? This place is perfect. Best place I have ever camped. Love it. Golf cart rentals. Wild animals that walk around the campsites. Camping with Disney's added luxuries. Highly recommended. 6🌟 if possible.
