We are a take out kitchen and retail food shop in historic downtown Concord, NH. We use whole ingredients with no preservatives.
Here’s how it works…
We opened The Clean Take because we believe healthy food can also be convenient. We make whole ingredient, healthy meals and snacks to go. Whole ingredient dinners are available Monday through Friday until 6:00 pm.
During the Farmer's Market, we're open on Saturdays until 1:00 for tasty morning goodies!
Because we use only fresh, whole ingredients, our menu rotates to feature the freshest ingredients available. If you have favorite entrees, they will be featured again, but don’t be afraid to request something you really like – we’ll do our best to put it on the menu in the near future.
Meals are available in single serving size or for a group. For your convenience, dinner comes two ways:
Take and Bake –
Stop in and select meals to bake at home. These meals are cooked, but require heating. Each meal comes with instructions for oven warming.
Pre Order –
Plan ahead for those busy nights you know are coming. Soccer practice? Kitchen remodel? Family visiting? Holiday Shopping? We can take care of dinner with something hot and healthy. All you have to do is pop it in the oven and set the table. Delicious, homemade food you can feel good about serving to those you love.
Offered Daily:
At least one vegetarian dinner will be offered daily. If we’re given enough notice, we can modify our vegetarian entree to accommodate a vegan diet, as well.
Because gluten sensitivity and avoidance is observed by many, a gluten free dinner will also be offered daily.
What We Believe
We buy as much inventory as possible from New England farms and suppliers. This practice doesn’t just support the New England farm economy, it lessens the impact on our environment by reducing the miles traveled. This also ensures that our ingredients are fresh and delicious. New England is full of beautiful and bountiful farms and in the months to come, we will be working hard to establish relationships with more local food growers, producers, and livestock farmers.
We want to honor the integrity of the food we serve so we never prepare it with artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Our kitchen doesn’t use hydrogenated oils, microwave ovens, or non-stick surfaces. In most cases, our marinades, dressings and sauces are made right in our own kitchen.
Organics
The Environmental Working Group publishes an annual list of produce that poses the highest concentration of pesticides; they call this list ‘The Dirty Dozen’. These items will always be organic in our kitchen. In the event that we can’t find one of these listed ingredients grown organically, we simply won’t use it. This practice may slightly limit our menu, but we believe it’s worth it.
Our organic product list doesn’t end there; The Dirty Dozen is just the starting point. Most of the spices and grains we use are organic and many other produce items are as well.
Meats
We are working hard to develop relationships with livestock farmers who raise their animals ethically and without cruel living conditions. We strive to find animals raised with the best possible diet. We will never use meats that were raised with hormones or antibiotics.
Some of our poultry and eggs come from New Hampshire farms that allow their birds to wander freely and forage for food. These birds produce beautiful rich eggs and meat products.
