Our Mission at The Community Church of New York Unitarian Universalist is to grow as a caring, justice-making, anti-racist, diverse, spiritual community.

Story

We, the members of The Community Church of New York Unitarian Universalist embrace the transforming vision of the "Beloved Community", a just world in which all persons can share equitably in the wealth of the world, and freely develop their gifts and potential.

We commit ourselves to provide for each other an intergenerational community of love, by embracing diversity and religious freedom, and by encouraging personal and spiritual growth through worship, social action, fellowship and education.

We commit ourselves to action in our congregation, our city, our denomination our country and our world to bring the vision of the Beloved Community to fruition.

I enjoyed this church.

I visited one Sunday recently while on business in the city, guided there purely by Google and intuition - and I was not let down. The service proved to be satisfying in every way, from the majestic tabernacle to the highly talented choir, followed by a good, appropriate message. Indeed, it was a very polished affair, and the congregation was equally friendly and accommodating.

Though, what most pleased me was the service's substance - which is to say, there was passion and intent, and the undeniable presence of truth (or so I perceived, at least). That day, the speaker delivered a thoughtful message which contained genuine, practical spiritual truths, in line with my own personal experience. To encounter such is, for me, quite rare (and quite wonderful); I do not give this praise lightly.

So, thank you, everyone at this church, for nurturing the spirit of this lone traveler. Keep up the good job : )

Called the church on business and the receptionist was very rude. She is suppose to be a representation of the church and bringing people in the congragation to worship and serve GOD. This is what pushes people away from going to church. I do hope the Head of this church will have a chance to see this view being posted and will look into who is on their staff.  Not good at all! Very disappointed!
