About

Creating a diverse and dynamic community centered in Christ’s message of love, justice and courage to transform the world... Welcome Home!

Story

The Church of the Village is dynamic, a diverse community, and full of Spirit. As a reconciling congregation within the United Methodist Church, we are committed to being "radically inclusive."

Mission

The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

* We are living into the Spirit's call to create a new ministry in the Village. We celebrate God in a multicultural worship experience every Sunday at 10:30 am.

* Our mission is to share our faith in Christ, to reach out with compassion and understanding to all God's children, to carry out God's will in transforming our community and the world and to build a deeper relationship with God through prayer, worship, study, and action.

* We consider ourselves a Progressive, Reconciling Church, defined by these principles:

* We are not bound by tradition in the way we worship and show our gratitude to God

* We not only accept, but celebrate, human diversity, being radically inclusive in welcoming people of every color, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and economic status

* We believe in social justice and support advocacy for the poor and any who are oppressed

* We strongly support environmental stewardship of the Earth

* We maintain a deep belief in the instruction to "love one another," made clear in the teachings of Jesus Christ

* We are also accepting of the fact that many roads lead to God, so we are respectful of all spiritual paths

* We live out these beliefs with spiritual vitality, believing that our church flourishes with many points of view, opportunities for creative expression, and lively, participatory worship services

* We are open-minded, to be sure, but we also strive to be open-hearted, and be a true haven of acceptance for those who find their way through our open doors.

DO NOT BELIEVE ONLY WHAT IS WRITTEN BUT LOOK FOR THE TRUTH I would like to share with all brothers in Christ the knowledge that Jesus taught us about reincarnation in Matthew Chapter 17 Verses 10 11 12 and 13 where he explains to the disciples that John the Baptist is indeed Elijah reincarnated and therefore had not been recognized but they did everything they wanted, was experiencing another experience in the physical body and history tells us that John the Baptist was arrested and killed even had his head delivered on a tray. We live more lives until we can reach the enlightenment of our souls. Reincarnation is part of life as well as birth and death. Light wisdom peace and I would also like to leave an explanatory video to repeat the subject about who we are and what we are part of.

When you walk into Church of the Village you are greeted by some of the most wonderful and grateful church member volunteers. For me it never felt like I was a number. From day one when Pastor Vicki greeted me by the door, I always felt as if I were a part of the church. This was around 5 years ago. The atmosphere and personal inclusion to make you a part of the church family is still strong at this church.

Loved the open inclusive friendly welcome of this place. Completely Beautiful Christmas Pageant. Also an amazing mural in the entry and a great Helping Neighbours in Need food & support program. Here's a church walking the walk not just talking the talk. Will be back on my next visit to NY. 🤗X

Points for diversity, but this church service is more of a political movement than Christian worship. There were about a dozen people total in the service we went to, they give you the mic for an introduction if you're new, and the service went well over an hour. I felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time and left early due to the amount of political discussion and judgment.

How do you not give a church 5 stars. It's beautiful inside. The staff is friendly and it's a great peaceful place. They have a small sized basketball court in the basement.
