To start of, the whole staff is attentive, kind and fun. The place is pretty cool, chill and clean. The food and drinks… AMAZING. Waitress always coming over to check on us. Restrooms clean. The place was just amazing all around. We were last minute walk-ins for dinner on a Friday and they found a way to sit us without a wait. If we are EVER in the area, we won’t hesitate in coming back here. They were also great with my kids. Little one loves to order on her own and they were totally cool with her. Awesome place. Loved it.
Delicious dinner menu! We had a couple of small plates and they were amazing, especially the Baked Goad Cheese and the Smoked Trout with cucumbers! The staff is very friendly and makes you feel like home from the start. They also have a small terrace / alley outside that looks very cozy! And I loved to find out this is a place with history - is one of the oldest restaurants in San Francisco! We’ll be back here for sure!
Lovely place for team dinner! The ambience was good and service was good! Recommend reservations during peak dinner time. The portion size was decent. The meat was perfectly cooked. Only complaint is for the bread pudding with berries where berries were non-existent vs my previous visit, clearly inflation adjusted lol
Came here on a rainy Tuesday...the place was pretty busy but we were able to get 2 spots at the bar. The place has a laid back, eclectic vibe with friendly service. We were here fairly late so mostly just getting a snack. We shared the Cream of Mushroom soup, Chicken Skewers came with 3, and Warm Bread. The star was the soup - hot and comforting. The bread was a disappointment - small portion for $4 and was more like crusty crouton slices. Chicken skewers were juicy and had great flavor. With a cocktail and a beer, our tab came to around $55. A bit pricey for a late night snack but food was tasty.
Went to the Fly Trap for the first time to try their breakfast and overall, it was good. The Fly Trap has endured since the 1920’s and is truly part of the fabric of San Francisco. I though the breakfast menu was a little limited, but, I absolutely loved the decor, the conspicuously adorable and unassuming patio, and the friendly staff.
Likes: Went for brunch. Loved the patio. Cozy place to go with a small group of friends 2-4 ppl. Good food as well. Dislikes: Didn’t like the gnocchi much. Fav menu item: Arancini, breakfast burrito.
Favorites: everything : This restaurant exceeded my expectations. It is a very cozy, small and beautiful restaurant. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is a narrow alley with exceptional decoration. It feels you are home. It is warm and cute. Loved the place and definitely will go back. BTW, the staff are super friendly. We had salmon, ribeye, and rigotini as a main dish. For dessert, we tried the Creme Brule and chocolate moose
We discovered The Fly Trap restaurant while waiting at a stop light, we happen to look down open door into the patio area. We had brunch, which was very delicious. Our watermelon margarita was very good. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We plan to return for dinner next time we are in San Francisco.
Another lovely visit to Fly Trap. I adore this place. The service, decor and decent drinks you can't beat. I will say some improvements could really upscale some of the dishes. The calamari is really good, I would recommended making it frito misto style with some potatos or califlower to help the small portion, upscale it. The chicken and ribeye were lovely. Chicken was amazing once I requested a touch of salt and pepper. The ribeye was super tasty, I just would have prefered the sauce for it on the side, let the excellent steak shine on its own more. Maybe offer and charge for different sauces or seasoned butters. The carrots I think could be outstanding with a touch less charing and I enjoy some char. Same could be said of the brussels sprouts. I love brussel strouts and these have too much honey balsomic to char ratio. Touch less sauce and get the brussel sprouts outside to be delightfully crispy and that dish will sing. Dessert was simply delightful. Mastering Creme brulee is no small feet, kudos. Again I adore the Fly Trap and recommend it often. I want this place open always. Thank you to the outstanding staff. Will be back.
Wow. I am at a loss for words and don't know where to start. Which doesn't happen often. I couldn't wait to write a positive review, I was creating it and submitted it while still eating, which is a first for me. I arrived before the kitchen opened, but I was committed to a full three course experience based on the reviews. I was not disappointed. I had two Pomelo Spritzers, the mixed greens and I was undecided but Jamie guided me the Baked Goat Cheese. Holy Helen. If you only go here, drink water and order the Baked Goat Cheese, your life will near completion based on this culinary experience. I then moved on to the house special Mai Tai and Rib eye. Oh my Lordy Lord. The Mai Tais flavor is extremely unique. Great job Brian/Bryan, amazing work, best Mai Tai of my life and I've been all over the world. The Rib Eye? Well, there wasn't much left. It melted in my mouth and goes in my top 10 of Rib Eyes. Finally the Baked bread pudding and a cappuccino. Epic. Fook'n Incredible. If you're in the area, have the money to drop on a place that touts a casual atmosphere but luxury dining experience, check them out. You shouldn't be disappointed.
