The Freehouse
"We are The Freehouse, Located on Washington Avenue in the historic North Loop. There are other restaurants, brewpubs, taprooms and bars in Minneapolis that serve only one brand of beer. But we are not that. We serve our beer side-by-side with that of our competition with the belief that quality and selection of our ingredients and the care and craft of our brewmasters and chefs will shine through in every batch we brew, every pint we pour and every plate we serve. From breakfast to beer, The Freehouse restaurant in the historic North Loop features an onsite brewery, handcrafted cocktail bar and a restaurant menu that compliments our vast beverage selection."

Absolutely divine! This American restaurant is the best I've ever visited. The taste of the meat is incredible, perfectly seasoned, and always fresh. My friends and I go there all the time for great food, and it's my must-visit spot whenever I'm in Minneapolis. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is always top-notch. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a culinary gem you shouldn't miss. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere and service, but food is a hit or miss. Fried Walleye - loved it! Good flavor overall, the asparagus and mashed potato sides were delicious. Fried chicken sandwich - solid. The brussel sprouts and goat cheese app was unique and delicious, we also enjoyed the cheese curds with the spicy sauce. French onion soup - close to $13 cool presentation but weird taste. They clearly have their own twist on the classic soup and it doesn’t work well, in my opinion. Can’t recommend. Parking: Minneapolis so all paid parking, meter police were everywhere. Kid-friendliness: They had kids meals and mickey mouse pancakes
Great restaurant/brewery in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis. Parking can be a little difficult to come by, but usually you can find a meter on Washington Ave. Food is fast and delicious, as well as the beer and cocktails. We like the breakfast options and usually have a hard time deciding since there are so many good choices. It was busy on the Sunday morning that we were there so the wait staff took a little longer than was expected. Vegetarian options: Lots of options Kid-friendliness: Definitely a place you can bring the kids to.
We’ve been to Freehouse in the past but haven’t returned until this year. We were impressed with the noticeable changes in the menu, service and even atmosphere of the place. Wow! My favorite things on the menu are the Greek Yogurt Parfait, Roasted Tomato Basil soup, Honey Lime Chicken salad, Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich, $1,000 Burger, Fresh Faroe Island Salmon, Avocado Toast… well, I could go on and on, really!! I will say the pairing of the Carrot Cake with the Big Watt Cold Brew is amazing and I’m sure the brew pairs well with the decadent Chocolate Cake too. I’m impressed with the feel of the place, such a great energy which makes the experience fun. There is a change in the staff: hosts; servers Liz, Jordynn, Sompto & Nick; bus people… even management Rachel, Jolene, Celina & Terry. It’s worth being in the presence of a good environment, that is Freehouse now.
Breakfast gnocchi was the best I’ve ever had! Staff was so nice and booths are nice and big! Best brunch place by far!Food: 5/5
You must get the bananas foster waffles! They are heavenly!!!! My husband enjoyed his andouille hash. The service was good and fast!Food: 5/5
Came here for a late brunch on a Saturday and I was reminded of how much seating is in this place. The last time I was here was 7 years ago and it seems like the place hasn't changed much. Lots of families with kids seem to have events here because there was a ton of food on the floor in the upper seating area. Service was prompt and food came quickly. We ordered the Rachel sandwich and the regular Eggs Benedict and I would definitely re-order the former. The sandwich portion was huge, came with thick slices of turkey and was an absolute flavor bomb. The Benedict was very average. It had 1 small slice of ham but the ham didn't taste good. Also, the actual egg muffin had a weird aftertaste to it and was just not great. Probably one of those pre-frozen ones? The egg was cooked but the hollandaise was just kinda flavorless.
This was my second visit after almost 3 years and I was pleasantly surprised. Tuna appetizer was fresh. I would tone down the mayo in the Wasabi aoli but it was ok. The Brussel sprouts were fantastic and the roasted chicken was amazing. Probably the most tender I've ever tasted. I was not impressed with the salad. The dressing was pretty bland. Overall. Pretty good food.
Really like the atmosphere and overall vibe from the interior decor. Went to watch a Timberwolves game. There are TVs visible from the bar as well as the surrounding tables. Drinks are decent and the bartenders are a lot of fun to chat with. Its just a good time being here. Both chill and upscale. Might try their food menu next time.
My niece requested The Freehouse for her 23rd birthday lunch. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and we were seated outside. Our waiter was amazing. He was welcoming and made great recommendations. I got the Baja Bowl without the beans, and my niece had a cheese burger and fries. The Baja Bowl....WOW! YUM! I highly recommend it. Because it was my nieces birthday, the waiter offered us a dessert. I just have to say, "Yes!" to the chocolate cake. Thank you for making this a great and memorable experience for my niece and me. I will be back.
