Decent beer selection with domestic and some crafts. I really like their food. The fries aren't great so we always split an order of onion rings. They are perfectly crisp, some of the best onion rings I have had. Their burgers are also very good and their whole menu is very well priced. Only problem we have had is every time we order cheese sticks they are never cooked properly. We usually just have them sent back and they come back perfectly gooey.

I've been here a number of times and it's not my favorite restaurant in Pleasant Ridge. But the reason is all me, not the owner's fault. I don't like noisy places, because I can't hold a conversation with people. I don't like dart players near me when I eat - yes, I could ask for a different table if one's open. I'm not a fan of the pub atmosphere. Once again, that's me. If you like pubs, then you're probably going to love this place. It's in an old building. I'm guessing the building is probably vintage 1895, maybe older. It's not in the best of shape, including the bathrooms. It's got GREAT parking with a rear entrance, so don't worry about trying to find a place on the street. Go around back using the side street and park in the lot. The food - it's pub fare, what can you say? It's better than McDonald's but it's not like eating at Eli's BBQ down on Eastern Avenue. If you're a beer-drinking dart-playing pub-crawler patron, you'll LOVE The Gas Light Cafe.

I was not expecting much when I headed there for a quick lunch. I paused to read the posting in the windows to get a clue before I stepped in. The sign said "Rated second best hamburger in Cincinnati". That is quite a rating or claim because there are A LOT of hamburgers in Cincinnati. I stepped in and was immediately charmed by the "took half a century to decorate" look and feel. Dark, gleaming wood floors, walls, & bar. 100 year old pressed tin ceiling. Framed pix of notables and framed newspaper articles of Cincy's teams & events. A smattering of diners totally immersed in their chow. I had to order the burger of course. I sat and wondered where I would "rate" my burger. It came out and was presented. Wow,... it looked perfectly delicious. Like these guys had some how mastered some secret method of making the everyday ordinary extraordinary. I picked it up and it "felt good" in my hand. I raised it and took a bite,...awe,..Yes! ...Something extraordinay for a change!. Ummm...I enjoyed each bite wondering how long I could savor it. I slowed down, relaxed, forgot about work, and took the time to enjoy it. By time I finished it and a couple of diet cokes, I was totally rejuvenated and in a different would. I told the bartender that I would now rather forget about going back to work and sit there the rest of the afternoon. He laughed. He knew I couldn't stay. $6.50 tab, $3.00 tip and back to work with a smile and a $100 memory.
