I came upon this place because I was looking for a place to eat breakfast before work. When I walked in the waitress immediately spoke to me, and was so sweet.  She said "it doesn't matter what you get because the whole menu is good" it's really great to find an employee that believes in your products. She was right. Everything was perfect.  I went again this morning, and once again, the waiter was great as well as the food. SO I HAD TO post a review because I'd recommend The Gumbo Diner to everyone.

We were patrons of the restaurant that used to sit in this location, and were staying at the hotel next door by luck on our latest trip to Galveston. I stopped by to grab breakfast to go one morning and was pleasantly surprised by the service, the quality of food and the value!

We tried their beignets (sold in orders of 3 or 12) and a few orders of bacon and both were fantastic. A waiter named Sam sat me at the bar while I waited for my order and got me a drink and continuously checked on me.

Parking is kind of limited, but it's SO worth it. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying on the island!

My classmates and I visited the Gumbo Diner during our last week of class in Galveston. We were all so upset that we had not come to the restaurant sooner because it was delicious! We shared some breakfast plates and our server was more than willing to accommodate the split checks. He was so fun and friendly. We enjoyed the experience and absolutely loved the beignets and ocean view!

The price is worth the quality and quantity of food.I got an omelette and it was huge, fresh and delicious. We also shared beignets and they were awesome and hot. The service was friendly and on point. We will definitely be back in there. We left happy and full.

I've brought my two teens to The Gumbo Diner each time we've come to Galveston.  It is their favorite restaurant, and we consider it part of our  vacation experience.  We really like to try a few of the local places wherever we go.  My kids would be completely let down if we came through Galveston and didn't plan at least one visit to your restaurant during our stay.  The food is amazing (we go for shrimp and grits), the atmosphere is the perfect 'flavor', and the staff is incredibly friendly.  We feel like it's 'our place' each time we come.  Just love it.  Well done.
