We were excited by all the rave reviews and went here for my birthday to get something special. We made a reservation, but traffic was great so we arrived very early and they were still able to seat us, which made us really happy. Service was good. Unfortunately, the meal was not. We started with shrimp and the bread (which you have to pay for). The shrimp smelt very fishy. My husband and I eat a lot of seafood at home at at restaurants and I can't remember the last time I smelt shrimp this fishy. I ate one & it had a lovely texture, but the next one tasted as fishy as it smelt. I didn't want food poisoning so I gave up and didn't eat any more of the appetizer. The bread was good, but had more holes than bread so it wasn't filling at all, which was disappointing. My husband's beer was on tap, but they had trouble with the tap & it took a while for him to get it. We didn't mind the wait & our server kept us posted. However, the beer then tasted quite off, as though it hadn't been kept well in the tap. I ordered the chicken and it was good. Nice flavors, very moist. But nothing to rave about. And unfortunately, not good enough to make up for the fishy shrimp. We didn't bother with dessert, but cut our losses. We also weren't impressed with the ambiance. Yes, it was dark (we needed our i-phones to be able to read the menu & I'm still in my 30s so it's not my eyesight!). The chairs felt like diner chairs left over form the 1950s - very rickety and unstable. Not very comfortable for a relaxing meal. It felt like it was trying too hard to be hipster, which was weird since although the servers did seem to be hipsters, at least half the clientele had grey hair & were definitely not hipsters. I would have given it 3 stars for service, but the food and atmosphere just weren't up to a 3 star rating.

We all love this new addition to culinary delights in the River Forest / Oak Park / Forest Park area. The craft cocktails are magical, with each layer of flavor treating the tongue to new adventures. Last night I had salmon, my sister had scallops and my husband the steak, all were perfectly cooked. We followed them with desserts which were sinfully delectable. We're already making plans for our next visit.

Really enjoyed my dinner. Great craft drinks, cozy bistro ambiance, and great food with friendly service. Worth the trip from downtown.

Dinner was wonderful. For appetizers we got the chicken liver mousse and the roasted oysters. Very clever plating with the oysters! I was wondering why they would serve warm roasted oysters on ice - turns out it was salt! The bread is phenomenal. Almost like a sour dough wheat. For dinner we got the duck gnocchi and scallops. Both of which were amazing.
