My wife and I went to the "sister" restaurant (Satisfied Frog) about 5 years ago in North Phoenix. When we moved further north we had to try it out. Good burgers,  fun old west environment. But the fried chicken was absolutely amazing. Very crispy, yet juicy on the inside. And the prickly pear margaritas were wonderful too. We will be going back when we are next in Cave Creek.

We were kept waiting both to order and for our food a very long time. When we finally got the order it was missing vital parts of the dishes and sauces. What was supposed to be hot was cold, we had cold beans and a cold apple cobbler. When we asked why they were cold we were told that was just how they were served but management later admitted they were supposed to be served hot. The waitress was rude and absent and the dirty dishes were left on the table even though we asked that they be cleared before dessert. We were very disappointed because it was a family favorite of 13 years but under new management it was now a dysfunctional shambles and I found the service to make for a very unpleasant experience. My food was especially bad over salted and missing a major element of the dish. I saw it served at the next table with all its parts. When we complained we were told they were sorry and the bill was adjusted but the evening was so unpleasant I had to warn others. My advice don’t go.

An Arizona landmark! Tucked away in the touristy hills of Cave Creek is this somewhat touristy restaurant. The original bar was built in the 40's I believe, and the rest of the building was tacked onto it over the years. The bar is old and beautiful and needs to be seen to be appreciated.

The important things: the food here is awesome. Known for their barbecue chicken and beef, they also serve other favorites like fish and chips which are crispy and served with a house made tartar sauce that just might be the best ever made! All of the food here is really outstanding, prices are decent, but portions are really grand. You will be taking something home! 

I absolutely reccomend this place! Excellent establishment. Great food, friendly staff, great service. Enjoy!

Great place, shaded dinning on patio, GREAT, BEST EVER, Fried Chicken, all the food is very good. Great atmosphere, everyone is your long lost friend. Great town, lots to see, lots to do. Best time to visit, on the weekend, when I'm not there ! 😀

We have been visiting The Horny Toad since 1989, long before there was any development along Cave Creek between N. Phoenix and Cave Creek. We've eaten our share of the 2.4 million pounds of fried chicken served to date along with tasty sandwiches and salads. The wait staff is excellent especially Missy. You will enjoy your meal.
