David Shapiro has a high success rate in cases that have proceeded to trial and / or appeal, including high profile cases such as Duval v. Bristol Meyers-Squibb (decided in 1995) in which Mr. Shapiro successfully argued his client’s appeals in the United States Supreme Court.
David Shapiro’s practice has been heavily concentrated on criminal defense, product liability, and accident/injury matters including, but not limited to: Federal and state, felonies, misdemeanors, probation and parole violations, fraud, car accident injury claims, work injuries, wrongful death, newborn injuries, lead & asbestos poisoning and food-borne illness cases.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1955, attorney David Shapiro attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1976) and graduated the University of Baltimore School of Law, JD in 1985. Mr. Shapiro still resides in Baltimore with his wife of 22 years and three children. Throughout his 22+ year career, Mr. Shapiro has been admitted and practiced in various prestigious legal courts such as the Maryland & D.C. Bar, U.S. District Court, 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Shapiro has also been deeply involved in the community of Baltimore having participated and continuing to participate in such organizations as: Governor’s Youth Advisory Council, National Association of Jewish Legislators and the Democratic State Central Committee. David Shapiro was also the youngest person ever appointed to the Maryland State Legislature. He held public office for 10 years in the Maryland House of Delegates.
Deeply rooted in Baltimore’s Jewish community, David Shapiro has been a member of the following organizations: John F. Kennedy Chapter of B’nai B’rith Youth organization (President, 1973), The Baltimore Jewish Community Center, Jewish Big Brother League of Baltimore, The Center for Jewish Education (President, 2009-2011), and the Shoshana Cardin Jewish Day School. Mr. Shapiro also founded and directed Project Bernfes from 1975-1986. Currently, Mr. Shapiro is a board member for the Center of Jewish Education of Baltimore and speaks at various Jewish organization conferences throughout the U.S.
In 2010, Mr. Shapiro realized a life-long dream and opened Shapiro’s Café in the heart of the Mount Vernon area, blocks from his law office and his Alma Mater, the University of Baltimore, serving up healthy portions of authentic falafel, shawarma, and deli favorites to the good people of Baltimore.
