Bottom line review: Great art selection with unique pieces; adequately priced compared to other galleries in the area; exceptionally rude service and would not choose to purchase anything from a store that treats its customers so poorly. Before making a significant purchase at any store, my husband and I like to peruse a store to see how they treat potential and future customers (not just current customers who are buying something that day). We may be old school, but customer service is a huge selling point for us; it indicates how well a sales transaction will go, how a store will handle the item we purchase, and whether we will return to the store for future purchases. We found one of the best ways to determine this, is to do a bit of window shopping first. And this is what we did with The Marshall - Le Kae Galleries. Here was our experience. My husband and I walked into the gallery 1/2 hour before closing - plenty of time to peruse and get out before closing. When asked if we were looking for anything, we politely mentioned we were just looking and would let her know if we had any questions. As we perused, we found some of the gallery lights in the back already off, and the sales employee was bustling around the store making a bit of a racket. Thinking it was near closing time because of her hustle and bustle, we looked at our watches and found we still had plenty of time to continue perusing. We then heard the sales woman tell two ladies who walked in the front doors that the Gallery was closed, and she had them turn around and exit. Another 30 seconds goes by and all of a sudden all of the main gallery lights shut off on us! Confused, we looked at each other and then walked straight to the front of the gallery only to be met by the sales woman who said, "Oh, I did not know if you were going to buy anything." We shook the dust from our shoes and exited the store. We have never been so rudely treated in our lives by any store. I am flabbergasted that someone would actually shut off all the lights in a store on a customer to get them to leave when it was still before closing time. I wonder if we would have been treated differently if we made it apparent we were going to buy something? Or perhaps a "Hi. We will be closing in a few minutes, is there anything else I can help you with?" would be a nice lesson for this store to learn. Even Wal-Mart does this better than Le Kae Galleries. First impressions can make or break a company and a sale. We would not recommend this gallery; this is unfortunate for the artists whose work is for sale in the gallery. Needless to say we found a different gallery in town and made a big purchase from them, had it shipped home, and are enjoying it in our living room. Perhaps your impressions of the Le Kae Galleries will be better.
