Loved this spot! We went for part of their soft opening and I am extremely impressed! The location is great, the staff are so friendly, and the food and drinks are incredible! Not to mention the easy upscale atmosphere. I just hope that they keep these prices after their soft opening because wow- you cannot get a cocktail anywhere these days for $10 and it's so refreshing to not spend loads on a nice evening out.
I have had this place on my list to check out since it opened not long ago and finally went. I was not disappointed at all. Food was great, at least what I had. Went with a few friends and shared with one of them. The salmon carpaccio was awesome, my favorite of the night, and highly recommended. Red curry udon I liked a lot too, but my +1 didn't like much spicy. Another on the table had some wings, which taste-wise apparently were fantastic, yet unfortunately one of them was undercooked; and the plate was replaced. Overall, I would come back and try more of the menu and I'm sure over the it'll get better.
Beautiful brand new classy bar right in the heart of Orlando. It has beautiful decor, a great ambiance, and very attentive staff. They have some amazing cocktails and really creative Tapas selection. They are brand new, so they are going through some growing pains. Be patient with them, and I promise you won't be disappointed. I hope they succeed in refining their service goals. I highly recommend giving them a shot!
We visited The Moderne a few days ago for the first time, and WOW - we will definitely be going back! This place is amazing, has so many good menu items, and is a perfect new addition to the Mills/50 area of Orlando! A few tips before I talk about what we ordered: Be prepared to wait! Since it just opened and it’s one of the best restaurants in this area, everyone comes here. It’s PACKED. We were luckily enough to arrive around 6 pm on a weekday and they had 2 tables left for 2 people - both outside along Colonial. It wasn’t a big deal to us, and we took a table, and it honestly was better than inside because you could hear even from outside just how loud the inside was. They had a 2+ hour wait for a table inside!! This place is super lively when a table alongside Colonial is quieter than the restaurant itself, that’s for sure! The service was awesome. Despite being a new restaurant, no order was incorrect, waiters/waitresses were extremely upbeat and kind even giving their suggestions, and food came out fast!! It is expensive, but the food is REALLY good, and I think it’s worth the price. Here’s what we ordered: Gyoza, KFC Korean Fried Chicken, Japanese Poutine, Hot Chicken Sliders, Korean Vodka Pasta, Sticky Asian Ribs, Salmon Hand Roll, and a drink. I don’t remember the drink name but all the drinks on the menu looked incredible, and if the rest of them were as good as mine might’ve been in the Soft Landings section? you need to try!! Our absolute favorite things were the Korean Vodka Pasta, Sticky Asian Ribs, KFC, and Salmon Hand Roll. The pasta wasn’t that spicy, and it had an AMAZING Italian/Korean flavor. Unlike anything I’ve had before. The Sticky Asian Ribs were the best ribs I have ever had - period. My girlfriend doesn’t even like ribs and she loved these! The KFC was some of the best fried chicken we’ve had. Amazing sauce, perfect seasoning, not dry on the inside, and something you’ll just be addicted to and want to order more. And the Salmon Hand Roll was just exceptional! It’s a perfect bite-sized piece of a fresh salmon sushi roll…but just better! It’s hard to describe but you should definitely get at least one hand roll pretty small item for 2 people so you can have one at the end as a treat. Everything else was awesome as well. The only thing we wouldn’t order again was probably the gyoza just because it is the most “normal” thing we got. It’s just like regular gyoza to be fair, better than most and I feel other menu items are more unique and worth trying beforehand. The poutine was super unique and a completely different take on fries than anything I’ve had before! And finally, the hot chicken sliders were PERFECT - exactly what you want when you’re looking for a good hot chicken sandwich…but mini! Our only gripe was there were no desserts at least not yet. I can only imagine how good The Moderne’s desserts will be if their food is of any comparison. I have been to many restaurants in the Orlando area, and this is up there as one of my new favorites. We will DEFINITELY be returning!!
Are they on the soft opening?! Oh wow!!! The food and drinks are AMAZING!!! The dishes are so beautiful, and the place is gorgeous! Perfect date with my wife. Thank you, guys!
Lots of pizzaz at the Moderne! The drinks are delicious and it seems they all have some flare to them. The menu is also intelligently designed, it was a great experience overall! Highly recommend.
I’ve been twice and the first time the service wasn’t great at the bar but they were/are in soft open! I will say bartenders are still not that friendly but maybe bc they’re just busy and can’t deliver a smile/friendly face. The only con outside of that was we were accidentally charged for a mocktail and didn’t realize until after we left. My niece ordered it bc she’s pregnant but didn’t like it/ they were going to bring her something else but it never came. Aside from that Kyle was our server and he was amazing! We saw him killing it all night, the staff bringing our food/taking away our dishes didn’t skip a beat and were also on it! Food was good - Vodka penne not a great as I hoped but everything else we tried which was a lot was great. Would def try again!
**this is a review during the soft opening and prices/ food options may change. This is a great new spot! We did not have anything we weren’t raving about - even the poutine! Pictured is the Poutine, Curry Udon, KFC, and Shishito peppers. I really can’t even highlight just one because they were all so good. Not pictured that we also got was the Miso Cream which was one of our favorites. Prices were very reasonable for tapas and the portions are nice - although we were told the prices may change after the soft opening. Drinks were great as well and prices vary on cocktails form $10-12. Atmosphere is really top notch. The bar in the middle is beautiful and the decorations around the restaurant are superb! Comfortable seating too They have a patio that faces colonial and all places in here are handicap accessible.
The videos won’t upload. The best time to get here is 5:00 or a little before. It gets packed! The drinks are amazing. We had the -women in white mothers mercy -hells half acre -dragon in a bag women in white was so refreshing I could have easily done 2 more Mother mercy reminded us of waking up in Cancun Hells half acre had a spicy kick. Dragon in the bag had the same spicy kick. Nothing that you can’t handle. We did the purple nurple shot and it was just as delicious. We tried the vodka pasta. Put that order in! And get two if you’re a pasta lover. The soft crab shell was yummy and full of juiciness. The goyza we did as pork and they were perfect. We called over two people waiting for seating. Before we left to take our seats. We went the night before and another set of people took seats that were there after us and it just wasn’t fair in that regard. The bar waiter Matthew was 5 starts plus. Cool personality and down to earth. Made awesome suggestions and was fun to chat w. He whipped out the drinks and was prompt on anything and everything we chatted him with. We only want him when we’re back!! The food was quick and we were really impressed. No delay in drinks or food. We will be back. It’s a must try!! Thank you Matthew and the rest of the team. Keep it up.
We went onthe 3rd day of their soft opening, and had a wonderful experience. We loved the art deco aesthetic. Delicious well crafted drinks. Food was outstanding. Our server was fun and friendly. Perfect addition to the area.Food: 5/5
