Found menu to be very limited, especially for me since I am a picky eater. Wife, daughter, and grandson's entree' were very good.  I had the braised short ribs and found the gravy to have a strange taste (seasoning).  Did not enjoy it at all.  French onion soup I ordered was also not very tasty (broth was bland).  Desserts were excellent!  Server was very attentive.  Cocktail was excellent also.  Probably will not go back.

I think this centuries-old inn has finally found the ownership that will make it an enduring success. The food is interesting, varied, guite good and appropriately priced. I'm there a lot for lunch and it's become my go-to place for business lunches. Easy. Everything just happens efficiently and seamlessly. I've hosted small groups and had the same experience. But this is not just great for business dining, I've gone there several times with friends with the same results. Can't say anything bad.

Fabulous experience on Thursday 1/18
Made reservations for 5:45 pm and that is exactly when we were seated at the table I requested.     It was a special dinner for my wife as it was her retirement day from a long career as a teacher.      We had calamari and crab cakes as appetizers.      We had sea scallops and swordfish for our entrees.      All our food items were exceptional - many thanks to the chef(April) for a job well done.     Our waitress(Rachel) and the manager(Dylan) contributed in making this a very special occasion.     Thank You       Ed
BTW, this restaurant is good or better than any restaurant in West Hartford or the surrounding area.     Exceptional food quality and service.

Just visited The North House for the first time. We stopped by for restaurant week, and let me tell you: a GREAT choice. The service was fast and courteous, the atmosphere and design of the restaurant is beautiful, and most importantly the food was outstanding. For my meal, I started with the clam chowder, then moved to the salmon, and finished with a glorious chocolate truffle dessert.
I think the prices (~$35 entrees - high prices but high quality) might prohibit frequent visits, but we will definitely be coming back for more as often as we can!

Second time I've been here.  Food is good, the service at the bar was fantastic.  Great happy hour menu and drinks.
