Stayed at the Union Station hotel while my partner attended a conference there and found myself at The Pitch quite a bit! They’ve got a very wide variety of spots to sit it’s typically seat yourself from what I’ve seen ranging from bar seats to comfy couches and normal booths & tables. Food is decently priced for the location and the menu has a pretty good range. Full bar and pretty good draft list were also available. Even on their busiest day I was there for St. Patty’s so you can imagine the crowds service was quick and the waitstaff was awesome. No details missed and I never felt like I was hunting someone down to order or get the check. If you’re in town I can’t recommend this spot enough. Truly made my trip way more relaxed knowing I could count on consistently from them!
After trying to get a beer and a bite at 2 other spots, one of them supposedly a "local fave" syburg?‍ glad I found this spot. Bartender was on point from the second I sat down, never felt ignored/abandoned, never waited more than a minute to get refreshed, took his recommendation and grabbed the burger over the Philly. IT was a wise decision as I just might order another one....great atmosphere, great staff, great food and drinks....highly recomend and look forward to comimg back Edit David F. server
We had an amazing experience here yesterday. We had a large party that they ended up needing to move. They put us in the back private room, and brought us appetizers for the inconvenience. They were so accommodating and the General Manager was was. The entire staff made us feel at home. The food was excellent. Thanks for having us and we highly recommend you.
We visited The Pitch during a City match against Sporting Kansas. The lobby makes a strong first impression, and walking through to the bar and dining area, they've done a great job of recreating the feel like a British football pub - it really feels like stepping into The Crown & Anchor from Ted Lasso. Cozy sets of couches around the outside walls encircle televisions, an open center dining area provides many great places to sit, and the bar at the back is inviting beneath the row of large-panel screens. Sitting outside, it's possible to hear the cheers and drums from City Field, which really makes it feel like you're at the match. Unfortunately, we sat outside for almost 30 minutes waiting for a server, and I had to ask twice to be served, and nobody ever showed up. We eventually gave up and moved inside where we were promptly served. The Fish & Chips we ordered came out surprisingly quickly, and was both delicious and reasonably priced. Rest assured that when the match is on, all TVs in the establishment are tuned to it, and the commentary is loud and clear over the speakers. I've been to other bars that are listed on CITY's affiliates, and the experience has been mixed - usually they will show the match but not as the main feature or on a lot of TVs, and if they bother having the commentary/sound on it's barely audible. This is NOT the experience at The Pitch - it's clear that they set out to make this a destination for watching the CITY matches for those not in the stadium, and as a result, this is a GREAT place to watch the match. The restaurant was definitely busy the night we went, but not overwhelmingly so, and aside from the apparent lack of a server on the patio, the staff was keeping up. Despite the challenges getting food service outside - which is surely an anomaly and not typical - we really enjoyed our visit, and will definitely be back.
we loved the BIG ole TVs and the BIG seats to watch em on...u can eat, drink a cocktail or a beer, watch TV from all angles, snuggle AND just hang out...cant wait to come back!!Food: 4/5
If you’re going because you see that they serve Carnegie Deli sandwiches, better manage those expectations. Huge fan of the original in NYC, but the dry meat and mediocre bread are a shadow of the real experience. Not bad, but just not up to Carnegie standards. The shrimp appetizers were okay and the cheesecake was outstanding, but you’re paying a premium for atmosphere and location. Cool spot, not great service, and a bit of an all around disappointment. Probably a good spot to watch a game, though.
Very, very cool new sports bar. We were a little confused on the “athletic club” title Midwest translation = sports bar. There is an abundance of large, high quality tvs to watch your favorite sports. We were there at an off time so it wasn’t too busy. I imagine this will be the March madness hot spot. Some of the seating areas have nice, comfy coaches and chairs. The soccer arena is across the street and it sounds like things get wild during the soccer games. The service was great! We sat at the bar and had fun with Kit, Courtney, and Ryell. They were very friendly and conversed with us throughout the evening!!! There are plenty of beer and drink options!! The food was tasty too. We had the fried ravioli, lobster Rangoon, and the Philly with cheese whiz sauce. My only recommendation is to lose the small bags of chips served with the sandwiches. If chips are going to be the side, just put them on the plate and lose the bag looks cheap IMO.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern, a brand new addition to the vibrant St. Louis Union Station scene. The experience was nothing short of exceptional, from the warm atmosphere to the delicious food and top-notch service. Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately captivated by the well-thought-out design and ambiance. The place is a stunning blend of modern elegance and historic charm, perfectly fitting within the Union Station setting. The spacious layout and comfortable seating arrangements make it a great spot for group gatherings or intimate dinners alike. What truly sets The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern apart, however, is the quality of service. From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our server was not only well-versed in the menu, but also provided excellent recommendations for both food and drink pairings. It was evident that the entire team was focused on ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest. In addition to the fantastic food and service, The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern also features an impressive selection of local craft beers and a robust wine list. The full-service bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day or catch a game on one of the many big-screen TVs. Overall, I can't recommend The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern enough. It's a fantastic addition to the St. Louis Union Station scene and is the perfect destination for a delicious meal, great drinks, and an enjoyable atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and trying even more of their tantalizing menu offerings.
Great atmosphere, plenty comfy seating options! With couches and screens. Great place to watch soccer. You can hear march commentary while still talking to friends. For march starting at 7:30 there is a15 min wait to get in around6. 5/5 Service quick and friendly. Water took a while sometimes but give the he crowd present very decent overall. 5/5 Tavern food and great decent drinks menu 4/5 I would return for sure.
Service was incredible. Our waiter, Al went above and beyond all evening. We arrived a few hours before a STL City SC game with a group of 6. Al had a full slate of tables and did an amazing job ensuring we always had full drinks, everything was made correctly, and our food arrived in a timely manner. We visit STL restaurants frequently and Al provided one of the best restaurant service experiences I’ve ever had. He was attentive, polite, and never seemed frazzled by the ever growing crowd and amount of tables he was waiting on. The Pitch is a great option for both small and larger groups to catch a game or a few drinks. We’ve been there 5-6x now and the experience has always been great.
