We were looking for a place to just chill. Somewhere more intimate and ran into this place. Customer service was great, drink prices were good, and the guy performing live on the stage singing cover songs let me rock the mic real quick. David the bartender was awesome. They had doors closed and brother got sick once we left but he definitely got me a cup of water for him quickly so that goes to show that they do care for their customers.
The music is great, the bands deserve a better stage. Place is quite lame; tired and neglected.. menus and tables are sticky.. soda is flat.. food is likely frozen products.. The tenders tasted old.. the nachos were low quality, wings are meh.. curly fries were good. Got double fries on the bill when ordering one - check what you’re paying for. The are given only for the live music ‍
The staff and servers are great and for a bar, the food was pretty good too Place could be a five if they somehow sectioned off the dance floor. Doing their staff no favors when they have to cross a sea of people to get to a table. Also means people hover over your table when eating. Lastly, I feel if you make a reservation to eat and drink, you shouldn't have to pay a cover, but that's just me.
The cover band last night was so good. Great vibe at this place. But very crowded inside. I'll be back.
The vibe is amazing, but the waitress was rude. My friends and I had gone to watch a match and we got 1 drink. The people on the next table received many Budweiser bottles as a fifa world cup promotions but wanted us to have it. Later the waitress told us that we shouldn't keep them as people who paid more on that day should get it and told us in a rude way that we should buy more if we want to keep watching. Kinda sad, the previous time, it was great vibe and place but the attitude of the waitress keeps me away now.
We were told that this bar was one of the best to go to for British ex-pats. We were also told Bleeker Street, which The Red Lion is on is a great street of bars. I think the time we went there, around 6pm, was probably not the best time, as there wasn't many in there and there was no atmosphere. Good selection of drinks and priced in line with most of New York bars- all around $9 for a 16oz 440ml drink. Barmaid was friendly enough. I'd like to attend again, later in the evening, as 2* may be harsh, as the couple next to us at the bar, also English, said they had attended a few nights as the open-mic nights were great.
The Red Lion is back as the amazing soccer bar they once were! GREAT food and drinks options...ask for the girl's breakfast...also chips & guac, fish & chips, and 'I can't believe it's not burger' are all delicious...Lovely personable and attentive staff...Gavin, Katie, Clodagh, Melissa, Conor, Cait, Dave...to name just a few...and THE BEST place for live music in the Village!
The best place in NYC for live music. Everyday I found very good artist, yes, everyday! I loved the chicken wings on Tuesdays. It is an amazing place!
Awesome bands. Awesome bartenders. However, there is one security staff member who clearly has anger issues. The way I had seen him fully SCREAM at a group of young adults who were not deserving of such treatment was very disappointing to witness. Actyally quite scary. He did it multiple times after this first occasion. I understand security guards should be strict mannered and keep their guard up, but this man was clearly looking for an excuse to yell at anybody he could. Absolutely love this place, but he needs to go.
Suprised that the Red Lion does brunch. And it was great. Forgot my credit card went back to get it and saw chicken and waffles. And it's bottomless. To which is why I forgot my credit card again. Kudos to the manager. You run a great place.
