Soho room had been a great chill reasonable bar for the area with a Nice mix of random people and a laid back clientele . Always enjoyed going there good food, great drinks and entertaining random conversations with an eclectic mix of random tourists and locals struck up and good times to be had, but sometimes the vibe would depend on who was tending the bar. Sadly it had seemed to shudder for good during the pandemic, had passed by several times to check but it had seemed empty and dark, with letters missing from its sign. But one day I had passed by and low and behold it was open!!! Went in and saw a friendly face in Lola the bartender, unique attentive and friendly. Bar wasn't too crowded and was nicely redone, new menu screens adorning the walls, with a decent selection of rotating local craft beers mixed in with the old standbys. I found out they still had happy hour from 11-6 $6 beers, pre pandemic they had steadily increased by from $5, but still a decent price for the area. Lola said they had been open since halloween 2021, even though i swear i had gone to check several times and always seemed closed still. I felt i had finally recovered one of my go to spots and it was back and even better!!! While I did enjoy going back, after a few months once the summer weather started rolling around I started noticing every time I tried to go there were next to no seats at the bar, seems as though a steady ing group of construction workers et al, started commandeering the place, and it wasn't just after work, I could try 1 2 430 6 -It was the same situation , nearly every seat taken or if there were any seats, they would be kind of bunched together with the same guys standing lounging against the bar or sitting in a circle using up all the stools for must be for hours every day. While the rear table seating was pretty empty. Also noticed Lola wasn't there many of those times, it was this older guy who seemed to have some comradery with with many of the workers and was much less attentive to most other patrons. They have every right to be there, but I kind of feel that original chill was that had seemed to come back was now being tarnished turning it into a bro bar, with like 15 guys being there all day and the crowd being somewhat belligerent at times and they all seemed to be intertwined. If you walk in the door, and see a couple of neon shirts, you can pretty much guarantee it will be this same scenario. Not sure where they are coming from, or how or why they can stay for hours on end daily, but we can only hope as time goes by and projects are completed, we can claim back the chill vibe it rightfully should have. In the meantime, I am still searching for an equally decent spot until that day arrives. No offense
Probably cool place to go late for beer. The wine was not good, however. Hardly anyone there at 530pm.
Standard bar on Spring St. Easy to drop in for a quick drink. Bartender wasn't particularly social but the places serves it's purpose.
Great neighborhood bar with a friendly atmosphere and decent drinks, last of a dying breed in SOHO. Absolutely great food. If I died after having this burger, I'd have no complaints!
The old Soho Room was a classic, sadly lost to the pandemic. But like the proverbial phoenix, it has risen from the ashes and is as wonderful as ever. Better, perhaps. Because now they have two Pappy Van Winkle options...the Van Winkle 12 year and the Rip Van Winkle 10 year. At very fair prices, given the market. Get it while you can.
Nice neighborhood bar that's reopened after closing during Covid. Great happy hour prices.
Good food, good beer selection, great vibe and service.
The bartender was outstanding. Great happy hour specials.
In good companion great drinks
Quiet little restaurant and bar with great food and service. Everything we tried here was excellent and reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back!
