We went here while we were in town for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. The food, the people and the place was fantastic. What a gem to have right in town.

Dear Amanda, First I want to tell you how much we enjoyed the food last night at the Bistro. What is even more amazing is what you did in delivering my check card to the house after I left it at the restaurant. You went far above the call of duty snd I want to thank you for what you did. We retired here from the Shenandoah Valley after owning a weekend house for years. I know of no other business that we have dealt with that would have done what you guys did and I am most appreciative. Thanks again and you and your husband have a customer for life.

I can't say enough good things about this place. It's difficult to choose an entre because everything sounds so delicious. The staff has always been friendly and attentive. They highly recommend making reservations, but we've never had to wait as walk-ins when sitting outside. The only thing that would ever deter me from going is the pricerange, which makes it more of a special occasion kind of place. If cost isn't a concern, you won't find anything much better in the area.

This place was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed yet upscale. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic and did not disappoint. I'm a bit of a picky eater but everything from the honey lavender butter to the octopus salad was delicious. Would definitely go again and highly recommend.

Celebrating great news from the Oncologist today-- enough great news to dress up, go out and where to go you ask!! We go to the White Dog Bistro for the BEST seafood and cocktails around Thank you Wilkes family for another delicious dinner and conversations with new friends.

This was our second trip to the White Dog.  Even though it's an hour drive, our first visit was so good that we just had to go back.  This time, not so much.  It started out 'odd' in that there was no one at the front of the house when we entered - a good 10 minutes later someone showed up - no apology - and seated us.  The waitress greeted us quickly and we order a bottle of wine.  A full 30 minutes later the bottle arrived.  Next came the appetizer - one was perfect while the other was luke warm.  Then the entree - again, one was hot and perfect - the other luke warm. Some suggestions: 1 - It shouldn't take 30 minutes to put a bottle of wine in a chiller and take it to a table.  Your bartender was overwhelmed - why make her bring a bottle out?  The waitress should be able to serve this. 2 - Clearly the kitchen was ahead of the service - thus the temperature irregularities in the meal.  If you are short of staff - don't seat guest you can't serve. Anyhow - we won't be returning.  Driving an hour and paying a premium price for this does not make sense given our experience.

Best food and service in Mathews county, no question; might be best in region. Ate escargot, chowder, hush puppies, low country skillet, and clams with linguine. Everything was exquisite. Cocktails were also fantastic. WDB is good enough for a destination meal.

Walter and White Dog Bistro catered our wedding. They were flexible and willing to work with us within our budget. Walter curated a wedding meal that was perfect for us and met our vision perfectly! The food was delicious and the service was just amazing! We couldn't have been happier with our decision to have White Dog Bistro cater for us. Especially after hearing all the compliments our guest had for the food and service. Chef Walter was just wonderful and was fast with communication and his execution was better than we could have imagined.

The White Dog is definitely a hidden gem! The classiest restaurant we've been to so far that had a large seafood menu and something for everyone in the family. Highly recommend!

A definite favorite. Everything we have ever eaten here has been fantastic! Elegant dining, but are also family friendly. We always look forward to dining here!
