Story

A New True Lake Tradition in the making. The Windlass features contemporary Italian and Continental Cuisine featuring fresh ingredients in expertly composed dishes. Our state of the art kitchen includes a wood burning pizza oven and raw bar. Our approachable wine selection compliments our menu. Don't forget the cocktail menu which reflects current trends in spirits as well as classic drinks and interesting range of beers. All of this lakeside on beautiful Lake Hopatcong. Our dining room offers pavilion like setting which harkens back to the history of the site as well as outdoor dining when weather permits. Open all year. Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast Sunday mornings. Private parties and off-site catering.

Had drinks and dinner& was very pleased w/ both. Sitting in the awning sliders by the water , we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The hostess Dayna couldn't be more accommodating! Dinner followed and we were very pleased w/ the service & food. Eggplant parmigiana, chicken parmigiana & linguine w/ white clam sauce all were delicious! When mentioned we had a birthday, there were candles on our dessert.....song....& smiles! Very pleased w/ the Windlass & look forward to visiting again!

Great dinner last week, probably the best dinner out in a long time. Our server, Rebecca was everything a customer could ask for. Represented the Windlass perfectly, was attentive without being bothersome. A truly nice young lady! Both meals were done just right. Hope to order again.

We had a lovely early dinner on the deck with a beautiful view. We arrived around 5 PM on a Thursday evening. Bear in mind that this place does not take reservations for smaller groups and is a very popular place. So, if you want to have dinner at 7 on a weekend night, there is going to be competition for both parking and a table. My husband and step-son had nice looking hamburgers and I can attest to the yummy fries having pinched a few. I had a nice Cobb salad and maybe fresh sliced avocado would have been better than guacamole with this dish. Service was fine.

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!! It was such a beautiful day so I decided to take my daughters out to dinner on the lake. We ended up at the Windlass. The food was not gross. My daughter ordered a salad with steak and the steak was literally raw and ice cold. The service was horrendous. I really couldn't believe it. Our waiter disappeared for a half hour and I had to ask for the check. The manager came over to see how it was and when we told him the steak was undercooked he said that it is hard to order thin steak medium rare. So basically it was my daughters fault for ordering it medium rare? He did not apologize and just handed us the check. Literally the worst service I have ever experienced. We will not go back and I strongly recommend that you avoid this restaurant. The food is not good but the service was even worse! There are plenty of other lake view options. Try Stone Water. So much nicer!

One of our favorite places to eat. The food is always 5 stars and the sangria is amazing! The service has always been wonderful and friendly, both from waiters/waitresses and management. We've even held an event there which we scheduled extremely last minutes. They were very accommodating and despite having a packed schedule that day they didn't rush our event in anyway. The service for that was great as well. Will continue to make this a regular spot to eat!
